Freitas signed a minor-league contract with the Rays on July 24.
Freitas returned stateside after he was released from his contract with the Korea Baseball Organization's Kiwoom Heroes in late June. The veteran catcher is currently playing for the Rays' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate, but he'll likely report to Triple-A Durham within the next couple of weeks.
