Tillo was designated for assignment by the Royals on Thursday.
Tillo was sent to Double-A Northwest Arkansas on March 21, and he'll now be removed from the 40-man roster. The 25-year-old made 20 appearances (five starts) in the minors last year and posted a 4.03 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over 29 innings.
