Wilhelmsen was released by the Diamondbacks on Monday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Wilhelmsen cleared waivers and was let go by the Diamondbacks because he wasn't expected to accept an assignment to the minors. The 33-year-old struggled out of Arizona's bullpen before being cut loose, compiling a 4.44 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 17:12 K:BB in 26.1 innings. His past major-league experience could help him catch on elsewhere, though he likely won't carry any fantasy value wherever he lands.
