Verdugo signed a one-year, $8.7 million contract with the Yankees on Thursday to avoid arbitration, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Verdugo was dealt to the Yankees earlier in the offseason and is in his final year of arbitration eligibility. He projects to be the team's primary left fielder and should remain a decent source of batting average and runs scored as a part of a strong lineup in New York.
