  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Athletics' Jeff McNeil: Absent versus lefty

McNeil is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Angels.

The left-handed bat of McNail is on the bench as the Angels send southpaw Yusei Kikuchi to begin the game on the mound Tuesday. Tommy White is in the lineup at first base and Joshua Kuroda-Grauer is at second base.

  • Rays' Ben Williamson: In Game 2 lineup

Williamson (hamstring) will start at second base and bat sixth during the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Williamson was scratched from the lineup for Game 1 due to hamstring soreness but seems to be feeling well enough to play in the nightcap after a few extra hours of rest. The 25-year-old spent about six weeks on the injured list due to hamstring problems before returning Sunday. He went 0-for-3 in his first game back.

  • Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Reinstated from 10-day IL

The Yankees activated Chisholm (intercostal) from the 10-day injured list Tuesday in between the first and second games of a doubleheader against the Rays.

Chisholm made a swift recovery from a right thumb sprain, an injury he suffered just two weeks ago. He did not play any rehab games, as the Yankees were satisfied with how Chisholm looked in workouts enough to reinstate him to the active roster. Max Schuemann was optioned in a corresponding roster move.

  • Rays' Ben Williamson: Scratched from Game 1 lineup

Rays manager Kevin Cash said that Williamson was scratched from the lineup for Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees because his right hamstring is "a littlesore," Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The 25-year-old was penciled in at shortstop for Tuesday's matinee but will now begin the contest on the bench. Williamson was just reinstated from the injured list Sunday after missing six weeks with an injury to the same hamstring, so it's worrisome that it's bothering him again. However, Cash believes Williamson could be ready to play during Tuesday's nightcap, so he should be considered day-to-day for now. Jorge Mateo is starting at shortstop for Tampa Bay in Tuesday's afternoon contest.

  • Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Will return for nightcap Tuesday

Chisholm (thumb) said Tuesday that he will be activated from the 10-day injured list before the second game of the doubleheader versus the Rays, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Chisholm sustained a right thumb sprain just two weeks ago, but he will skip a rehab assignment and be thrown back into the mix beginning with Tuesday's nightcap. The impending free agent had gotten off to a hot start in September before getting hurt, going 6-for-18 with one home run. Anthony Volpe has played well while filling in for Chisholm at second base and could get a look at third base after Chisholm returns.

  • Hao Yu Lee 2B | DET

Tigers' Hao-Yu Lee: Tallies three hits in win

Lee went 3-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored in Monday's 9-2 win over the Nationals.

Lee got off to a bit of a slow start in September, but over his last four games, he's gone 9-for-19 with four extra-base hits. Overall this year, the rookie infielder is now batting .268 with a .757 OPS, and he's likely shown enough to earn an Opening Day starting role with Detroit in 2027. Lee should also see ample playing time over the last few days of the 2026 regular season now that the Tigers have been eliminated from playoff contention and figure to focus on young players they want to build around.

  • Orioles' Jeremiah Jackson: Taking seat Monday

Jackson is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays.

Jose Barrero will cover second base in the series opener while Jackson retreats to the bench after manning the keystone for each of the previous five games. With manager Craig Albernaz telling Jake Rill of MLB.com that Jackson Holliday (wrist) is unlikely to return from the 10-day injured list during the final week of the season, Jackson should have a clear path to steady at-bats to finish the year.

  • Josh H. Smith LF | TOR

Blue Jays' Josh Smith: Handling regular role

Smith will start in left field and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Orioles.

With the season winding down, Smith has taken hold of a strong-side platoon role for the Blue Jays. Despite going just 1-for-14 with a 2:5 BB:K over the Blue Jays' previous six games, Smith will stick in the lineup Monday for a seventh consecutive contest.

  • Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Not expected back this season

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz said Monday that it's unlikely Holliday (wrist) will return this season, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Holliday will be eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list later this week, but the Orioles are a safe bet to be officially eliminated from the postseason picture by then. Additionally, the club is still trying to get a better handle on Holliday's left wrist injury, as he will seek out additional opinions before determining a course of action. Holliday will finish his disappointing 2026 campaign with a .229/.300/.340 batting line, seven home runs and eight stolen bases over 98 contests.

  • Chase Meidroth 2B | CHW

White Sox's Chase Meidroth: Flashes power and speed in rout

Meidroth went 1-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's 8-1 win over the Tigers.

Meidroth stole a base and came around to score in the second inning before launching a two-run homer in the fifth. The 25-year-old has gone hitless in four of his past 10 games, but he has managed five extra-base hits, seven RBI and nine runs scored in that span. For the year, he's slashing .268/.343/.401 with 15 home runs, 58 RBI, 87 runs scored and four steals across 629 plate appearances.
