  • Kody Clemens 1B | MIN

Twins' Kody Clemens: Exiting starting nine

Clemens is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's contest in Toronto.

Clemens is slashing only .192/.241/.321 in August and looks to be sliding back into more of a utility role, with Edouard Julien emerging as the primary first baseman against right-handers. The 29-year-old Clemens has been out of the lineup twice over the last five games, and in his three starts over that span he has played three different positions.

  • Jazz Chisholm CF | NYY

Yankees' Jazz Chisholm: Continues power surge

Chisholm went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run, an additional run and a walk in a 10-5 win against Washington on Monday.

Chisholm hit one of three Yankees homers in the victory, slugging a two-run shot to right field in the fifth inning. The veteran infielder has gone deep three times and driven in six runs over his past two contests. That's a continuation of a recent power (and speed) surge by Chisholm -- over his past 21 games, he's slugged seven homers and stolen eight bags while recording 16 runs and 15 RBI.

  • Jeff McNeil 2B | ATH

Mets' Jeff McNeil: Drives in three in rout

McNeil went 2-for-4 with three RBI in Monday's win over the Phillies.

Getting the start at second base before sliding out to right field, McNeil tied the game at 3-3 with an RBI single in the fourth inning before driving in a couple more runs late in the contest as the Mets poured on the offense in an eventual 13-3 rout. It's the fourth time in his last six games that McNeil has racked up multiple RBI, and through 21 contests in August he's slashing .300/.352/.487 with six doubles, three homers, 12 runs and 15 RBI.

  • Gleyber Torres 2B | DET

Tigers' Gleyber Torres: Goes yard in loss

Torres went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in Monday's 8-3 loss to the Athletics.

Torres opened the scoring with a solo shot in the sixth inning. The second baseman hadn't homered since Aug. 2 versus the Phillies, though he had gone a decent 7-for-26 (.269) over his previous seven games before his long ball Monday. Torres is up to a .262/.363/.405 slash line, 14 homers, 61 RBI, 67 runs scored, 19 doubles and four stolen bases over 117 contests this season.

  • Padres' Jake Cronenworth: Hits 10-homer mark

Cronenworth went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 9-6 loss to the Mariners.

Cronenworth entered Monday cold, having gone just 2-for-20 at the plate over his last nine games. He snapped the dry spell with a multi-hit effort, including his second-inning homer, which was the first time he's left the yard since Aug. 3 versus the Cardinals. The veteran infielder is now at 10 homers, 45 RBI, 47 runs scored, two stolen bases and a .243/.358/.386 slash line over 106 games this season.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Blue Jays' Andres Gimenez: Goes yard, steals base

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a homer, a steal, a walk and two additional runs scored in Monday's 10-4 rout of the Twins.

The Toronto second baseman tallied a homer and a steal in the same game for the seventh time in his six-year career. Gimenez stretched his team's lead to 5-0 with a 422-foot solo shot off Minnesota starter Joe Ryan in the second. The 26-year-old entered this contest mired in a cold spell, slashing a paltry .188/.297/.188 in 37 plate appearances since returning from an ankle injury Aug. 12. Perhaps this performance will get Gimenez going, as his elite glove continues to keep him in the starting lineup.

  • Cole Young SS | SEA

Mariners' Cole Young: Sitting against another lefty

Young is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Padres.

The left-handed-hitting Young will be held out of the starting nine for the second straight day while the Mariners take on another lefty starter (JP Sears). Jorge Polanco will spell Young at the keystone.

  • Buddy Kennedy 2B | LAD

Dodgers' Buddy Kennedy: Booted from 40-man roster

The Dodgers designated Kennedy for assignment Monday.

Kennedy will head to the waiver wire while the Dodgers bring utility player Enrique Hernandez (elbow) back from the injured list. After being claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on Aug. 15, Kennedy went 1-for-17 with one RBI and one run scored over seven games. If he clears waivers, Kennedy could accept an outright assignment and stick around with the organization at Triple-A Oklahoma City.

  • Angels' Christian Moore: Idle for third time in five games

Moore is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.

Moore will head to the bench for the third time in five games while Luis Rengifo picks up a start at second base. The Angels are currently running a three-man rotation of Moore, Rengifo and Yoan Moncada between the keystone and third base, but Moncada's playing time appears to be the most stable of the trio at the moment. Moore is slashing just .184/.273/.224 with a 30.9 percent strikeout rate since the beginning of August and could begin to play second fiddle to Rengifo at second base on a more frequent basis if he's unable to improve his production at the plate.

  • Cardinals' Brendan Donovan: Hitting off tee

Donovan (groin) has been hitting off a tee, Katie Woo of The Athletic reports.

It's not clear whether Donovan is doing any other baseball activities, but he does not seem to be close to returning from his left groin strain. Thomas Saggese has been handling the bulk of the reps at second base in Donovan's stead and will likely continue to do so.
