  • Brewers' William Contreras: Drives in six runs in rout

Contreras went 2-for-5 with a three-run home run, three additional RBI and an additional run scored in Friday's 20-0 win over the Reds.

Contreras opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the first and added two more RBI during Milwaukee's eight-run fifth inning. The star backstop capped the scoring in emphatic fashion, crushing a three-run homer off position player Jose Trevino in the eighth to make it 20-0. The blast was Contreras' 16th of the season. He's gone yard in three of his last five games and is hitting .282 with a .915 OPS across nine games since the beginning of September.

  • Tigers' Dillon Dingler: Snaps power drought Friday

Dingler went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Friday's 6-2 win over the Rockies.

Dingler recorded his 27th home run of the season in the sixth inning, which snapped a 28-game streak without a long ball. During that power drought, the Detroit catcher slashed just .123/.174/.151 with seven RBI and 29 strikeouts. Even with that slump, Dingler still leads the Tigers in homers and is second in the majors in long balls among backstops, which is a testament to just how well he was playing earlier in the year.

  • Harry Ford C | WAS

Nationals' Harry Ford: Battling hand injury

Ford was removed from Friday's game against the Angels due to pain in his left hand/wrist, Mark Zuckerman of NatsJournal.com reports.

Ford reportedly injured his hand during his final at-bat in the sixth inning, and he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the ninth. The Nationals have sent the 23-year-old for imaging to determine the severity of his injury, and an update on his status should come before Saturday's game.

  • Royals' Carter Jensen: Cracks two doubles in Friday's win

Jensen went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs scored during the Royals' 3-2 win over the Red Sox on Friday.

Jensen came around to score in the first inning on a Salvador Perez RBI single. The former added an RBI double of his own in the third before coming home to score later in the frame for what turned out to be the game-winning run. It was Jensen's fourth multi-hit game of September, and so far this month, he's gone 12-for-34 (.353) with 11 extra-base hits (including four home runs), nine RBI and 11 runs scored.

  • Elias Diaz C | TEX

Rangers' Elias Diaz: Absent from Friday's lineup

Diaz is not in the lineup for Friday's matchup against Arizona.

Diaz will sit out for Friday's series opener against Arizona as he misses his second consecutive game. Danny Jansen will once again fill in behind the plate and bat ninth for Texas.

  • Ethan Salas C | SD

Padres' Ethan Salas: Sitting third straight

Salas isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants.

Salas was expected to receive the lion's share of starts behind the plate when the Padres called him up at the beginning of September, but after going 0-for-12 across his first five major-league contests, he'll now miss out on the starting nine for a third consecutive game. Freddy Fermin will handle catching duties and bat ninth Friday.

  • Giants' Drew Cavanaugh: Resting Friday

Cavanaugh is not in Friday's starting lineup against the Padres, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Cavanaugh will get a breather after going 3-for-12 over his last five outings. Andrew Knizner will start behind home plate for Friday's series opener and bat eighth while forming a battery with Anthony Molina.

  • Guardians' Patrick Bailey: Exiting starting lineup

Bailey is absent from the lineup for Friday's game in Minnesota.

After starting at catcher in the Guardians' last two contests, Bailey will take a seat Friday. Austin Hedges will be behind the dish and will bat eighth in the series opener versus the Twins.

  • Keibert Ruiz C | WAS

    Nationals' Keibert Ruiz: Idle Friday

Ruiz is out of the lineup for Washington's game against the Angels on Friday.

Despite launching a solo shot during Wednesday's affair with the Padres, Ruiz will sit out the series opener against the Angels. Harry Ford will catch balls and strikes while batting seventh for the Nationals.

  • Red Sox's Adley Rutschman: Returning to Boston lineup

Rutschman (elbow) will start at catcher and bat third in Friday's game against the Royals.

Rutschman was administered a cortisone injection earlier this week to combat a hyperextended right elbow. He sat out the last two games to allow the shot to take effect, and now he's ready to roll. Rutschman is slashing .188/.253/.391 with four home runs in 19 games since joining the Red Sox.
