  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Homers again in loss

Schwarber went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Sunday's 5-4 loss to Atlanta.

Schwarber gave the Phillies a 4-1 lead with a solo blast in the seventh inning. The slugger entered Saturday's contest in an 0-for-14 skid but has now homered in back-to-back games and leads the majors with 42 long balls. In addition to his power, he's slashing .241/.357/.524 with 86 RBI, 85 runs scored and three steals across 614 plate appearances this season.

  • Shohei Ohtani DH | LAD

Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Sitting again Sunday

Ohtani (knee/biceps) is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.

Make it four consecutive absences for the four-time MVP. Manager Dave Roberts has been leaving the door open for a possible IL stint, though Ohtani reportedly made it through his session in the batting cage Saturday without any discomfort. Ohtani's availability as a hitter for the start of the Dodgers' next series remains uncertain.

  • Taylor Ward RF | SEA

Mariners' Taylor Ward: Falls into platoon role

Ward is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Athletics.

Following the recent promotion of Lazaro Montes (hip) to the big leagues, Ward appears to have faded into a short-side platoon role. Each of Ward's last four starts have come against left-handed pitching, and the Mariners have kept him on the bench for three consecutive matchups with righties. Since being acquired from the Orioles on Aug. 3, Ward has slashed just .105/.200/.132 with one extra-base hit (a triple) and a 28.2 percent strikeout rate.

  • Joc Pederson DH | TEX

Rangers' Joc Pederson: Takes seat against lefty

Pederson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays.

The left-handed-hitting Pederson will take a seat for the second time in the series while the Rays send another lefty starter (Ian Seymour) to the bump. Logan O'Hoppe will enter the starting nine in place of Pederson as the Rangers' designated hitter.

  • Diamondbacks' Adrian Del Castillo: Summoned to big leagues

The Diamondbacks recalled Del Castillo from Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Arizona designated outfielder Max Kepler for assignment to clear room for Del Castillo, who has hit .199 with five home runs, one stolen base, 24 RBI and 18 runs across 192 plate appearances at the big-league level this season. He isn't expected to see much playing time as Arizona's No. 3 catcher, but the 26-year-old will also be an occasional option at designated hitter.

  • Lars Nootbaar LF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Lars Nootbaar: Out of Sunday's lineup

Nootbaar is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Astros.

Nootbaar started the previous three games and will take a seat Sunday after going 3-for-10 with two walks, a double and an RBI. Gabriel Moreno is resting his legs as the designated hitter in the series finale while James McCann does the catching.

  • Blue Jays' George Springer: Taking seat Sunday

Springer isn't in the starting lineup against Kansas City on Sunday.

Springer will get at least a partial day off for the second time over Toronto's past four games. He's scuffled a bit to start September, going 2-for-17 through four games, but he has three RBI during that span. Vladimir Guerrero is getting a day off his feet as the Blue Jays' DH in the series finale versus the Royals.

  • Tommy Pham DH | CHW

White Sox's Tommy Pham: Goes on injured list

The White Sox placed Pham on the 10-day injured list Sunday due to a left calf strain.

Pham joined Chicago on Aug. 31 in a trade with Philadelphia and logged just one plate appearance with his new club before getting hurt. Catcher Edgar Quero was recalled from Triple-a Charlotte on Sunday to take Pham's spot on the 28-man active roster.

  • Kyle Schwarber DH | PHI

Phillies' Kyle Schwarber: Crushes 41st homer

Schwarber went 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two runs scored and two RBI in Saturday's 4-2 win over Atlanta.

The veteran slugger gave the Phillies a 4-1 lead with a solo shot in the fourth inning that left his bat at 108.7 mph and caromed off the facing of the upper deck down the right-field line. Schwarber's 41 homers leads the majors, with the Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong (39) and the Rays' Junior Caminero (38) on his heels, but he also paces MLB with 199 strikeouts in 136 games as he threatens to surpass the career-high 215 Ks he piled up in 2023.

  • Ben Rice DH | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Reaches five times in win

Rice went 3-for-3 with two walks and two runs Saturday in a 5-1 victory versus the Padres.

Rice was impactful out of the cleanup spot, reaching base in all five of his plate appearances and scoring two of the Yankees' five runs. The All-Star slugger has been swinging a hot bat of late, notching multiple hits in seven of his past 12 contests and batting .388 with two homers, 10 runs and eight RBI over that span. Rice has been a breakout performer for the Yankees this year, leading the team in homers (36), runs (89) and RBI (88), with Aaron Judge (ribs) playing in just 59 games so far.
