  • David Fry LF | CLE

Guardians' David Fry: Recalled from Columbus

The Guardians recalled Fry from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday.

With Rhys Hoskins sent to the 10-day injured list due to back inflammation, Fry will return to the big leagues after he was sent to Columbus earlier this month. Fry has slashed .182/.304/.336 with six home runs, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored and a 25:51 BB:K across 168 plate appearances in the big leagues this season.

  • Ryan Vilade RF | TB

Rays' Ryan Vilade: Playing time ticking up

Vilade will start in right field and bat seventh in Wednesday's contest versus the Blue Jays.

Most of the right-handed-hitting Vilade's playing time this season has come against lefties, but he could see semi-regular reps versus righties while Victor Mesa (hamstring) is on the injured list. Vilade will be making his third start in the last three contests, and two of them have come versus right-handers. Vilade sports an .868 OPS against lefties in 2026, but he's held his own against righties with a .748 OPS.

  • Chase DeLauter RF | CLE

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Remains out of Cleveland lineup

DeLauter (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

DeLauter hasn't played since exiting Sunday's game versus the Padres with left hamstring tightness. An MRI came back negative, but DeLauter will miss a third straight start while Angel Martinez takes his spot in right field. According to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, DeLauter took batting practice and went through a pregame workout Wednesday, though it's unclear if the Guardians will make him available off the bench.

  • Jo Adell RF | CLE

Guardians' Jo Adell: Held out with sore knee

Adell (knee) is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Giants.

Adell went 3-for-4 with a home run and six RBI in Tuesday's win, but he was pulled late in the game due to left knee discomfort. He's considered day-to-day heading into Thursday's series finale. Steven Kwan, Petey Halpin and Angel Martinez will patrol the outfield for the Guardians on Wednesday.

  • Rays' Victor Mesa: Move to IL official

The Rays placed Mesa on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to a left hamstring strain.

Mesa had missed out on three straight starts on account of tightness in the same hamstring before he made his return to the lineup for Tuesday's 10-5 loss to the Blue Jays. He was unable to finish out the game, however, after he aggravated the injury early in the contest. Mesa will now get some more time off to recover, and though the Rays aren't committing to a timeline for his return, manager Kevin Cash said Wednesday that he's hopeful the outfielder will spend the minimum 10 days on the shelf, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Ryan Vilade and Jonny DeLuca are likely to see most of the reps in right field during Mesa's absence.

  • Rays' Victor Mesa: Likely headed to injured list

The Rays are likely to place Mesa (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list prior to Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Mesa aggravated a left hamstring injury in Tuesday's loss to the Blue Jays. There's no word yet on the severity, but Mesa will need some time on the IL to recover. Jonny DeLuca and Ryan Vilade could see increased reps in right field while Mesa is sidelined.

  • Denzel Clarke CF | ATH

Athletics' Denzel Clarke: Kicks off rehab assignment Tuesday

Clarke (hamstring) went 0-for-2 with a strikeout with Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Clarke began his rehab assignment for a left hamstring strain, going hitless at the plate while logging five innings defensively in center field. The Athletics plan to build up the 26-year-old on a spring training-like progression, per MLB.com, so he's likely to see extended reps in Triple-A before being activated from the 60-day injured list. Clarke has appeared in 22 big-league games this season, slashing .170/.228/.189 with no homers, six RBI, four runs and two stolen bases.

  • Cody Bellinger LF | NYY

Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Could return as soon as Sunday

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Wednesday on the "Talkin' Yanks" podcast by Jomboy Media that Bellinger (hamstring) could be activated from the 10-day injured list as soon as Sunday.

Bellinger will kick off a rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday and will play at least two rehab games before the Yankees determine whether he's ready to return to the active roster. The 31-year-old has been sidelined since late July with a strained left hamstring.

  • Trent Grisham CF | NYY

Yankees' Trent Grisham: Fuels offense in Tuesday's win

Grisham went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Orioles.

The veteran center fielder carried the load for the Yankees, swatting a solo shot off Shane Baz in the third inning and then delivering a two-run single in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie. Grisham has homered five times in the last eight games, a stretch in which he's erupted for a .375 batting average (12-for-32) with three doubles, six runs and 11 RBI.

  • Red Sox's Justin Gonzales: Debuts at Double-A

Gonzales started in right field, batted leadoff and went 2-for-5 with a run scored for Double-A Portland on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old Gonzales appeared in his first game at the Double-A level. He was promoted to the Sea Dogs on Monday after mashing at High-A Greenville, where he posted a .271/.391/.463 slash line with 17 home runs, 12 doubles, 11 steals and 59 RBI over 89 games. He entered the organization as a first baseman and looks like one, but Gonzalez has transitioned to outfield the last two seasons, getting playing time at all three spots.
