James Wood RF | WAS
Nationals' James Wood: Making return from injured list
The Nationals activated Wood (oblique) from the 10-day injured list Wednesday.
Wood was shelved for nearly a month with a left oblique strain, but he's ready to roll after going 2-for-6 with one home run in two rehab contests. The All-Star outfielder has swatted 30 home runs, stolen 17 bases and collected a .928 OPS across 114 games for the Nationals this season. Wood is starting in right field and batting leadoff in Wednesday's game versus Atlanta.

Mauricio Dubon LF | ATL
Braves' Mauricio Dubon: Getting breather Wednesday
Dubon is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.
Dubon will rest during Wednesday's afternoon contest after starting each of the previous 12 games. Ha-Seong Kim will fill in at shortstop for Atlanta in the series finale.

Turner Hill LF | SF
Giants' Turner Hill: Bangs out four hits Tuesday
Hill went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI in Tuesday's wild 13-12 loss to the Pirates.
All four knocks were singles, but it was still an impressive performance from the 27-year-old rookie, who was batting leadoff for the first time in his brief career. Undrafted out of Marietta College in 2022, Hill had a breakout campaign in the high minors for the Giants and has carried that momentum into the majors, slashing .342/.426/.474 in his first 47 MLB plate appearances with five doubles, a steal, six runs and nine RBI. With San Francisco already looking ahead to 2027, Hill figures to get an extended look in September to see if he's part of the team's future in the outfield.

Fernando Tatis Jr. RF | SD
Padres' Fernando Tatis: Another two-homer performance
Tatis went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Reds.
Hitting leadoff and playing second base, Tatis took Nick Lodolo deep in the fifth inning to give the Padres a brief 2-1 lead before driving an Emilio Pagan fastball over the right-field fence in the ninth. It's the third two-homer effort from Tatis in the last 13 games, and his early-season power drought is a distant memory -- over his last 25 contests, Tatis boasts a .290/.345/.680 slash line with 11 home runs, five steals, 20 RBI and 21 runs.

TJ Friedl CF | CIN
Reds' TJ Friedl: Out of Cincinnati lineup
Friedl is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Padres.
Friedl had made three straight starts in center field against right-handed pitching, but he will exit the lineup Wednesday against San Diego righty Casey Mize. Dane Myers will patrol center field and will bat sixth for the Reds.

Jose Fermin LF | STL
Cardinals' Jose Fermin: Swipes bag
Fermin went 1-for-4 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Tuesday's 13-8 win over the Dodgers.
Fermin was atop the order for the second time in five games. He hasn't shown a ton of speed in his first full big-league season, swiping eight bags over 100 games, though he hasn't been caught stealing either. Fermin is batting .240 with a .659 OPS, six home runs, 35 RBI, 25 runs scored and 14 doubles, which isn't exactly a prototypical stat line for a leadoff man, but he fills that role versus southpaws.

Joshua Baez LF | STL
Cardinals' Joshua Baez: Pops homer Tuesday
Baez went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a second run scored in Tuesday's 13-8 win over the Dodgers.
This was Baez's second homer in his last three games. Aside from a three-homer debut, he has struggled a bit in adjusting to the majors. He's batting .175 with a .764 OPS, six homers, 11 RBI, nine runs scored, two doubles and two stolen bases over his first 17 games. Baez is also striking out at a 37.1 percent rate, which is a red flag considering he struck out at a 29.6 percent clip in Triple-A prior to his call-up.
-
Jordan Walker RF | STL
Cardinals' Jordan Walker: Homer, double in three-hit game
Walker went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and a second run scored in Tuesday's 13-8 win over the Dodgers.
Walker had gone eight games without a homer, picking up just one double and one RBI in that stretch. He broke out of the slump with a fourth-inning blast in this contest. Walker is batting .288 with an .850 OPS, 28 homers, 30 doubles, 18 stolen bases, 99 RBI and 88 runs scored across 135 games this season.

Thomas Saggese SS | STL
Cardinals' Thomas Saggese: First career multi-homer game
Saggese went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, a walk, three RBI and three runs scored in Tuesday's 13-8 win over the Dodgers.
Saggese secured the first multi-homer game of his career. The infielder is making the most of a decent share of playing time since rejoining the Cardinals on Friday, going 5-for-8 over three contests. Saggese is batting .226 with a .664 OPS, three homers, seven RBI, 14 runs scored, two doubles and one triple over 91 plate appearances in the majors this season.

Jordan Lawlar CF | ARI
Diamondbacks' Jordan Lawlar: Goes yard in loss
Lawlar went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the Phillies.
Lawlar was responsible for the Diamondbacks' lone run and their only multi-hit performance. Since returning from a hamstring injury Aug. 17, he has gone 9-for-35 (.257) with three homers and six RBI over 12 contests. He's batting .288 with an .837 OPS, four homers, 10 RBI, 11 runs scored, two doubles and four stolen bases over 82 plate appearances this season. Lawlar will typically play against most southpaws, but he's in a part-time role against right-handed pitchers.
