  • Blue Jays' Jameson Taillon: Recovering from flexor surgery

Taillon was scheduled to undergo flexor tendon surgery with Dr. Keith Meister on Oct. 5, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Taillon told Davidi prior to the operation that "there's a good chance" he'll need an internal brace of his UCL, as well, though it's unclear whether that occurred. The veteran right-hander has already undergone two Tommy John surgeries previously. Taillon will turn 35 next month, is an impending free agent and will miss most, if not all, of the 2027 campaign. However, he plans to continue his pitching career. Taillon logged a 5.65 ERA over 18 starts between the Cubs and Blue Jays in 2026.

  • Rays' Richie Palacios: Absent from Game 1 lineup

Palacios is not in the lineup Friday for Game 1 of the World Series versus the Brewers.

Although right-handed batters had just a .582 OPS against righty Jacob Misiorowski, lefties had an even harder time with a .378 OPS. Presumably, that's why the right-handed-hitting Ben Williamson is getting the start at second base over the lefty-swinging Palacios.

  • Chad Patrick RP | MIL

Brewers' Chad Patrick: Left off roster for World Series

Patrick is not on the Brewers' World Series roster.

He will cede his spot to Brandon Woodruff (shoulder), who has not pitched in a game in almost four months. Patrick was on the Brewers' roster for the NLDS and NLCS rounds but did not appear in any games.

  • Brewers' Brandon Woodruff: Included on World Series roster

Woodruff (shoulder) is on the Brewers' World Series roster.

Woodruff has not pitched in a game since July 4 because of right shoulder inflammation. However, he looked and felt well enough during a simulated game at American Family Field this week that the team has elected to carry him on its World Series roster. The Brewers might not be able to replace Woodruff on the roster if he has a setback -- the rules state it has to be an acute, non-chronic injury to warrant a move -- so the decision carries risk. Woodruff is taking Chad Patrick's spot on the roster and will be used in a bullpen role.

  • Rays' Brody Hopkins: Excluded from World Series roster

Hopkins is absent from the Rays' World Series roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

The Rays will carry Garrett Cleavinger in their bullpen instead. Hopkins was part of Tampa Bay's ALC roster, but the rookie right-hander not pitched in a game in nearly a month.

  • Rays' Garrett Cleavinger: Back on roster for World Series

The Rays have included Cleavinger on their World Series roster, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Cleavinger was on the ALDS roster but ceded his ALCS roster spot to Brody Hopkins, and the two hurlers have now flipped spots again. Neither Cleavinger nor Hopkins have made an appearance this postseason.

  • Alex Lange RP | KC

Royals' Alex Lange: Exits 40-man roster

The Royals outrighted Lange to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Lange ranked second on the Royals with 10 saves this season, but he finished with an unsightly 6.75 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 60:33 K:BB over 60 innings. The 31-year-old will remain in the organization for the time being, but he's a non-tender candidate.

  • Mason Black RP | KC

Royals' Mason Black: Scrubbed from 40-man roster

The Royals outrighted Black to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

The transaction frees a spot on the 40-man roster as the Royals head into the offseeason. Black has made eight starts and 19 relief appearances thus far at the big-league level, logging a 5.53 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 55:35 K:BB over 71.2 innings. He'll turn 27 in December.

  • Easton McGee RP | KC

Royals' Easton McGee: Booted off 40-man roster

The Royals outrighted McGee to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Having been outrighted previously, McGee has the right to decline the assignment by the Royals and become a free agent. McGee has authored a 4.54 ERA and 25:11 K:BB over 35.2 frames covering parts of four seasons at the big-league level.

  • Royals' Connor Seabold: Sent outright to Triple-A

The Royals outrighted Seabold (lat) to Triple-A Omaha on Thursday.

Seabold has the ability to decline the outright assignment and become a free agent. The right-hander missed the final three months of this season with a right lat strain, but he made some rehab appearances in September so he should have a relatively normal offseason. Seabold logged a 5.25 ERA, 1.71 WHIP and 20:11 K:BB over 24 innings in the majors in 2026.
