  • Aaron Judge RF | NYY

Yankees' Aaron Judge: Not included on wild-card roster

Judge (calf) is not on the Yankees' wild-card series roster against the Red Sox, Jack Curry of YES Network reports.

Judge was diagnosed with a moderate right calf strain a little less than two weeks ago. He's made progress, having taken live batting practice Monday, but Judge has yet to try running the bases or playing the outfield since the injury. Judge will push to be ready for the ALDS, should the Yankees advance. With Judge shelved, New York will likely use Spencer Jones in right field and Trent Grisham in center field versus righties.

  • Cardinals' Rainiel Rodriguez: Could get some reps at third base

Rodriguez has worked out at third base and will "continue to see time there as they look to expand his versatility," Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Cardinals president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom noted Monday that the team has a "long-term vacancy" at third base. Goold writes that Rodriguez still projects as a catcher, but the team is open to adding third base to his list of positions along with catcher and first base as it looks to increase versatility. Rodriguez -- who will not turn 20 until January -- has emerged as one of the best prospects in baseball, having slashed .324/.413/.574 with 27 home runs, 87 RBI, 11 steals and a 60:101 BB:K over 115 games between High-A Peoria and Double-A Springfield in 2026. He'll likely begin the 2027 season at Triple-A Memphis and could reach the majors before the end of the season.

  • Richard Fitts SP | STL

Cardinals' Richard Fitts: Expected to be ready for spring

Cardinals president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom said Monday that Fitts (lat) is on track to be ready at the start of spring training but will have his workload monitored, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Fitts underwent right lat surgery in April after getting hurt while pitching at Triple-A Memphis. It's unclear where Fitts currently is in the rehab process, but Bloom said the righty is "hellbent on being part of this picture from the jump" next season. Assuming health, Fitts will be in the mix for a rotation spot next season. However, after all the time off there's a good chance he'll begin the campaign back at Memphis.

  • Jordan Walker RF | STL

Cardinals' Jordan Walker: Lingering hip pain down stretch

Cardinals president of baseball operations Chaim Bloom said Monday that Walker was playing through some hip pain and other discomfort late in the season, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

The lingering hip issue could at least partly explain Walker's fade in September, as he slashed just .172/.232/.287 in the final month. The good news is the Cardinals do not expect the injury to linger into the offseason, as Walker has simply been prescribed rest. It was a breakout 2026 campaign for the 24-year-old outfielder, with Walker sporting a .269/.327/.466 batting line with 29 home runs, 102 RBI and 22 stolen bases.

  • Hector Osorio CF | TEX

Rangers' Hector Osorio: Back from IL

Osorio (undisclosed) was activated from the 7-day injured list Sept. 21.

Osorio landed on the 7-day IL on July 24 due to an undisclosed injury and missed the remainder of the 2026 campaign, though it appears he's healthy heading into the offseason. He began the year at Single-A Hickory before finishing the season at High-A Hub City, where he slashed .275/.370/.489 with eight home runs, 22 RBI and 23 runs in 34 games.

  • C.J. Kayfus LF | CLE

Guardians' CJ Kayfus: Returns from IL

Kayfus (ankle) was activated from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Kayfus will head into the offseason at full strength after undergoing surgery in July to address a broken right ankle and ligament damage. He appeared in nine games for the Guardians in 2026 but spent the majority of his time at Triple-A Columbus, where he hit .240 with three homers, 25 RBI, six stolen bases and 15 runs over 46 appearances.

  • Ben Kudrna SP | KC

Royals' Ben Kudrna: Back at full strength

Kudrna (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Kudrna has made a full recovery after undergoing olecranon stress fracture fixation surgery in late April. He made one appearance at Triple-A Omaha before landing on the IL, surrendering two runs on two hits and four walks while striking out two over two frames April 5 against Buffalo.

  • Moises Chace SP | PHI

Phillies' Moises Chace: Reinstated from IL

Chace (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list Monday.

Chace spent the 2026 campaign rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, but he was unable to see any game action. The team reported in June that he was progressing well and had been cleared to toss bullpen sessions, and the fact that he's now been reinstated would seemingly indicate that he's healthy heading into the offseason.

  • Slade Caldwell OF | ARI

Diamondbacks' Slade Caldwell: Undergoes back surgery

Caldwell underwent back surgery in mid-September, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reported. He will be out four-to-six months.

Caldwell, the Diamondbacks' first-round pick in 2024, has really struggled to hit for power as a professional. In 465 plate appearances at High-A Hillsboro this season, Caldwell hit .213/.361/.304 with six homers and 26 stolen bases, tallying an .091 ISO. While the ongoing back problems may give him an out in terms of his 2026 stats, Caldwell has dropped out of most prospect lists. 2027 will be a crucial year in his development for the Diamondbacks.

  • Aidan Miller SS | PHI

Phillies' Aidan Miller: Cleared for Arizona Fall League

Miller (back) will play in the Arizona Fall League, Jack Vita of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Miller underwent back surgery in June and was able to see action at Single-A Clearwater and Double-A Reading before the 2026 campaign came to a close. Vita has since reported that Miller will take part in the AFL, indicating a full recovery.
