Gonzalez will come off the bench in Saturday's preseason game against the 76ers, Sean Grande of NBC Sports Boston reports.
After sitting out the Celtics' preseason opener, Jayson Tatum (rest) and Paul George (rest) are back and starting, so Gonzalez will shift to a reserve role. Gonzalez averaged 3.8 points and 3.2 rebounds as a reserve last season.
