James (rest) won't play in Thursday's preseason game against the Suns, Shane Young of Forbes.com reports.
James was absent from the team's morning shootaround earlier in the day, so it appears he's simply getting a full day off. He'll have one more chance to play during the preseason against the Warriors on Friday before the Lakers open the regular season at home versus the Timberwolves.
