Draft Prep: Dynasty Rookie Rankings

Now that the NFL Draft is over, dynasty leagues are moving forward with their rookie-only drafts. With that in mind, we held a three-round mock draft for you to use as a guide.

We drafted these players based on talent and not need since this mock draft was not for a real dynasty league that already has established rosters. That could change things for several guys moving up or down a few spots, but like any mock draft it will never mirror what actually happens in your league. We also drafted based on a standard-scoring system.

Round 1

  1. Ezekiel Elliott, RB, DAL
  2. Josh Docston, WR, WAS
  3. Corey Coleman, WR, CLE
  4. Laquon Treadwell, WR, MIN
  5. Sterling Shepard, WR, NYG
  6. Kenyan Drake, RB, MIA
  7. Michael Thomas, WR, NO
  8. Kenneth Dixon, RB, BAL
  9. Devontae Booker, RB, DEN
  10. Derrick Henry, RB, TEN
  11. C.J. Prosise, RB, SEA
  12. Tyler Boyd, WR, CIN

Most rookie-only drafts will look the same at the top with Elliott the clear-cut No. 1 overall pick and Docston, Coleman and Treadwell the next three players off the board. Drake was a reach at No. 6 overall, especially over Thomas, and Henry should not be drafted after Booker. I picked at No. 12 and took Boyd, and I like his upside landing in Cincinnati.

Round 2

  1. Paul Perkins, RB, NYG
  2. Jordan Howard, RB, CHI
  3. Will Fuller, WR, HOU
  4. Pharoh Cooper, WR, LAR
  5. Leonte Caroo, WR, MIA
  6. Mike Thomas, WR, LAR
  7. Hunter Henry, TE, SD
  8. DeAndre Washington, RB, OAK
  9. Malcolm Mitchell, WR, NE
  10. Braxton Miller, WR, HOU
  11. Paxton Lynch, QB, DEN
  12. Jared Goff, QB, LAR

Fuller falling to the third pick of the second round could be a steal, but he has to prove he's more than just a deep threat and that Brock Osweiler can consistently get him the ball. I took Perkins with the first pick in the second round, and he has plenty of upside landing with the Giants. I like that Lynch was drafted ahead of Goff here because playing for the Broncos is a better scenario than playing for the Rams.

Round 3

  1. Jordan Payton, WR, CLE
  2. Alex Collins, RB, SEA
  3. Keith Marshall, RB, WAS
  4. Tyler Ervin, RB, HOU
  5. Josh Ferguson, RB, IND
  6. Carson Wentz, QB, PHI
  7. Jonathan Williams, RB, BUF
  8. Demarcus Robinson, WR, KC
  9. Kelvin Taylor, RB, SF
  10. Austin Hooper, TE, ATL
  11. Tyler Higbee, TE, LAR
  12. Rashard Higgins, WR, CLE

The best pick of this round was Wentz, who will be selected in the second round of most rookie-0nly drafts, even if he's the third best rookie quarterback behind Lynch and Goff. Marshall also is a sleeper since he landed with the Redskins. The worst pick was likely Taylor, who has minimal upside as a backup in San Francisco. I took Higgins with the hope he emerges as a viable Fantasy option by 2017.
