Winfield (ribs) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Carolina, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.
Winfield was back on the field for practice for Week 7 prep and was a limited participant in all three sessions. However, he has not been given the green light to return Sunday, so his next chance to suit up is Week 8 against the Falcons on Sunday, Nov. 1. Ifeatu Melifonwu figures to once again start alongside Tykee Smith at safety in Winfield's absence.
