The Buccaneers elevated McElroy from their practice squad Saturday, Carmen Vitali of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
McElroy appeared in just two games during the regular season, but he'll join the active roster ahead of Sunday's wild-card matchup against the Eagles. He's unlikely to play a significant role for Tampa Bay.
