Giants' Jalen Mayfield: Ruled out for rest of game

Mayfield will not return to Saturday's preseason game against the Jets due to an ankle injury, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

After coming off the field, Mayfield was taken into the tunnel on a cart and had his right cleat off, per Dan Duggan of The Athletic. Mayfield appeared in three games for the Giants last season, and the 2021 third-round pick has been competing for a depth spot on offensive line this summer. His ankle injury will likely factor into his chances of making the 53-man roster.
