Kirk Merritt: Heads to waivers

The Dolphins waived Merritt on Friday, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.

The undrafted rookie out of Arkansas State enjoyed impressive collegiate production with 153 receptions for 1,811 yards and 19 touchdowns over his final two seasons, but he couldn't secure a roster spot in Miami. If he clears waivers, the Dolphins intend to keep him on the practice squad.
