The Vikings released McGill (ankle) on Monday, Ben Goessling of the Star Tribune reports.

McGill sprained his right ankle during the team's preseason finale against the Broncos and is expected to be sidelined for one or two weeks. Despite a strong preseason, the injury made it difficult for the Vikings to keep the veteran defensive tackle on their initial 53-man roster. He appeared in two contests with the Vikings last year, totaling one tackle and one pass defense across 33 defensive snaps.
