  • Bills' Ray Davis: Two big plays in Week 5 win

Davis caught his lone target for 31 yards while adding two carries for two yards and three kickoff returns for 114 yards during the Bills' 37-34 overtime win over the Rams on Monday. Davis opened Monday's contest in style with a 70-yard return on the opening kickoff that set the Bills up deep in Rams territory, though the Rams defense forced a three-and-out and Buffalo had to settle for a 49-yard field goal. Davis made another big contribution early in the fourth quarter, when he turned a screen pass into a 31-yard gain before being tackled just short of the goal line, which led to a one-yard touchdown run by Josh Allen on the next play. Davis has been limited mostly to work on special teams while mixing in occasionally in the back field. That said, Davis and Ty Johnson could both be in the mix for more offensive touches, given that head coach Joe Brady said Tuesday that "...at some point there has to be consequences" in reference to James Cook's fumble issues this season, per Nick Suss of ESPN.com. The Bills will stay on the road for Week 6 against the Raiders on Oct. 18.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Little action in Week 4 loss

Davis logged a four-yard carry, a three-yard reception and returned one kickoff for 29 yards during the Bills' 29-26 loss to the Patriots in Week 4. Both of Davis' offensive outputs came on back-to-back plays early in the second quarter, and his four snaps on offense were well behind starter James Cook (35) and backup Ty Johnson (19). Even as a returner, Davis took a back seat to Greg Dortch, the latter of whom returned four kickoffs for 91 yards and two punts for 16 yards. Davis' production on offense and special teams will continue to be limited unless one of Cook, Johnson or Dortch were to miss time.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Active in Week 4

Davis (hamstring) is expected to play against the Patriots on Sunday. Davis was questionable heading into Sunday's game after participating as a limited participant in Friday's practice. The 26-year-old has one rushing attempt through three regular-season games for three yards.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: No output in Week 3 win

Davis played five snaps on offense and five snaps on special teams without showing up in the box score otherwise in the Bills' 24-16 win over the Chargers on Sunday. Davis' catch for no gain early in the fourth quarter was negated by a holding penalty by Alec Anderson. It appears Davis will not be a factor in the Bills' offensive gameplan this season, with Ty Johnson serving as the backup option in the backfield for James Cook. Davis should continue to see the field as a contributor on special teams, though he did not return a kickoff after doing so in each of the first two games of the regular season.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Limited to kick returns Thursday

Davis returned one kickoff for 31 yards during Thursday's 41-31 win versus the Lions. Davis logged just eight offensive snaps in Week 2 despite Ty Johnson (hamstring) being inactive, and he did not record any carries or receptions. It appears unlikely he'll have much fantasy utility in the near future unless starter James Cook misses time.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Handles one touch in Week 1

Davis rushed one time for three yards in Buffalo's 36-31 win over the Texans on Sunday. Frank Gore actually out-snapped Davis 10-5 behind James Cook, as both Davis and Gore rushed one time for three yards. If something were to ever happen to Cook, it looks like Gore could actually have a bigger role than expected, making Davis a shakier bench stash in fantasy.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Tough night in final exhibition contest

Davis didn't receive a touch on offense but gained 11 yards on two punt returns while losing a fumble in Thursday's 28-27 preseason win over the Steelers. His muffed punt return at the Buffalo 12-yard line in the first quarter led directly to Pittsburgh's first TD of the game on the very next play. It was a tough way for Davis to end his preseason, but the third-year RB has never returned a punt in his NFL career. Davis' spot as the No. 2 back behind James Cook seems fairly secure however, after he averaged 4.7 yards on 58 carries over 17 regular-season games last year.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Scores in second preseason game

Davis rushed seven times for 21 yards and a touchdown while adding a 10-yard catch on his lone target in Saturday's 31-7 preseason win over the Browns. Davis got the start at running back due to James Cook resting. Davis, a 2024 fourth-round pick, capped Buffalo's opening drive with a one-yard touchdown run and stayed in for the team's second possession. Cook will continue to lead Buffalo's backfield in the regular season as long as he's healthy, but Davis would be a must-roster fantasy option running behind Buffalo's elite offensive line if Cook gets hurt.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Returns after brief exit

Davis was able to check back into Tuesday's practice after briefly exiting with an apparent ankle injury, Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports. Davis was slow to get up after getting tackled to the ground on a run during 11-on-11 drills, with team trainers coming out on the field to evaluate him before he was able to walk to the sideline under his own power. After a quick trip to the medical tent, Davis was back on the field, albeit with a taped-up ankle. His availability doesn't look like it will be much of a concern moving forward.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Special-teams impact in win

Davis recorded four kickoff returns for 119 yards and lost a fumble in Sunday's 27-24 wild-card win over the Jaguars. Davis didn't garner any touches on offense as James Cook handled the entirety of the backfield work versus Jacksonville. Davis did return four kicks, the first of which he put on the ground, and it was recovered by the Jaguars. The running back will look to be more involved in the Bills' offensive attack in the AFC divisional round.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Runs for 151 in Week 18

Davis rushed 21 times for 151 yards while catching both of his targets for 23 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-8 win over the Jets. He also had a 22-yard kickoff return. Davis and Ty Johnson (56 scrimmage yards and two total touchdowns on 15 touches) both capitalized on increased workloads against the hapless Jets, as James Cook didn't touch the ball after Buffalo's second offensive snap. Cook is certain to reclaim the lead role in Buffalo's backfield in the wild-card round, when the sixth-seeded Bills travel to Jacksonville. Davis' two-yard receiving touchdown in the third quarter from backup quarterback Mitchell Trubisky was the second receiving score of the season for the 2024 fourth-round pick, but Davis finished the regular season without a rushing touchdown.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

I'm not expecting James Cook to play the majority of the game in Week 18 against the Jets, which should give Davis the chance for an increased workload in a great matchup. The Jets have allowed eight running backs to score at least 13.5 PPR points in their past seven games, and Davis could be a star. He had three games with double digits in carries in 2024, and he scored at least 13.7 PPR points in all of them. We'll see what Buffalo decides to do with Cook, but Davis could be a solid replacement option in Week 18.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Week 18 Waiver Priority List

I'm not expecting the Bills to play their starters much in Week 18 against the Jets, which would likely give Davis the chance for a featured role if James Cook is out. And the matchup is great since the Jets have allowed eight running backs to score at least 13.5 PPR points in their past seven games. Keep an eye on reports out of Buffalo this week, but Davis could be worth using as a high-end flex in all leagues if Cook doesn't play the entire game in Week 18.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Two touches vs. Philly

Davis caught his lone target for 12 yards and rushed once for four yards during Sunday's 13-12 loss to the Eagles. He added 84 kick-return yards on three attempts. Davis played nine offensive snaps during Sunday's loss and received a carry for the second consecutive game. The second-year pro from Kentucky has now rushed 37 times for 124 yards and caught eight of 11 targets for 63 yards and a touchdown through 16 games this season. He's been one of the NFL's most dynamic kick returners, averaging 30.7 yards per return and totaling 921 yards on the year. Expect Davis to remain a depth option in the Bills' backfield while contributing on special teams in the Week 18 matchup against the Jets, though he could see extra action if the Bills decide to ease back on starters like James Cook now that the AFC East title is out of reach for the playoff-bound Bills.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Week 14 Waiver Priority List

Davis is the No. 2 running back for the Bills behind James Cook, and Davis is worth stashing on your bench for 1 percent of your remaining FAB. He would be a league winner if he started any games for the Bills this season, and he just had nine carries for 62 yards in Week 13 at Pittsburgh in tandem with Cook. Now, if Cook were to miss any time, we would see Ty Johnson also have a role in Buffalo. But Davis would get the majority of carries and have the most upside in this scenario.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Excels in change-of-pace role

Davis took nine carries for 62 yards without being targeted as a receiver in Sunday's 26-7 win over the Steelers. Davis added 15 yards on his only kick return, failing to recreate the electricity from last week's return TD against the Texans. The 25-year-old backup instead stood out by outproducing his entire rushing yardage total from his 11 previous appearances in one contest. Davis had reached nine carries just twice prior to Week 13, with both occurrences coming in blowouts just like Sunday's. Fantasy managers can safely ignore Davis ahead of next Sunday's tilt against the Bengals.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: No touches but gets kick return TD

Davis didn't record a carry or target in Thursday's 23-19 loss to the Texans but returned three kickoffs for 145 yards and a touchdown. Davis played just six snaps on offense compared to 36 for James Cook and 23 for Ty Johnson. Despite Davis' lack of involvement on that side of the ball, the second-year pro left his mark on Thursday's game with a 97-yard kickoff return touchdown, which gave the Bills a 16-13 lead in the second quarter. Davis will have minimal fantasy appeal as long as both Cook and Johnson are ahead of him on the depth chart.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Impact limited to return game again

Davis played one of 56 offensive snaps during Buffalo's 44-32 win over the Buccaneers in Week 11. He also returned four kickoffs for 158 yards. Davis continues to contribute firmly behind both James Cook and Ty Johnson on offense. In the three games Davis has been tasked with handling kick-return duties he's managed to impress, including with a crucial 44-yard return against Tampa Bay. He'll work to continue making the most of his opportunities on special teams versus the Texans on Thursday.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Sleepers (Start/Sit)

James Cook (ankle/foot) missed practice Wednesday, and we don't know what his status will be for Sunday's game at Miami. If Cook is out then Davis and Ty Johnson would share touches, and I like Davis as a No. 2 running back in all leagues in that scenario. Davis played one game without Cook in 2024 against the Jets in Week 6 and had 20 carries for 97 yards and three catches for 55 yards for 18.2 PPR points. There's also the potential of Davis getting garbage-time touches this week even if Cook is healthy since the Dolphins are underdogs at home. Miami is also No. 6 in most Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs.

  • Bills' Ray Davis: Returns to practice Thursday

Davis (illness) is back at practice Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports. Davis seems to have recovered after missing Wednesday's practice, though it remains to be seen if he has any limitations Thursday due to his illness. The backup running is likely to suit up Sunday against the Chiefs.
