  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Clear for Week 6

White (shoulder) doesn't have a designation for Monday's game at San Francisco. Despite ending Week 6 prep with back-to-back limited practices due to a shoulder injury, White will be available to the Commanders backfield Monday along with Austin Ekeler (chest). With Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) ruled out, White and Ekeler are the candidates to lead Washington's backfield this week. On the season, White had 39 touches for 171 yards from scrimmage and one receiving TD in four appearances.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Limited by shoulder issue

White practiced in a limited capacity Friday due to a shoulder injury. White's downgrade from Thursday's full listing may be due to maintenance of the shoulder issue that sidelined him Week 4 against the Colts, but his status now bears monitoring to get a sense of his chances to play Monday at San Francisco, especially with Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) not practicing this week. In the event Croskey-Merritt is inhibited or out in Week 6, White and Austin Ekeler (chest, LP on Friday) would be the beneficiaries in the Commanders backfield.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Seven touches in return

White (shoulder) rushed seven times for 18 yards while catching his only target for two yards in Sunday's 27-27 tie against the Giants. White recorded 20 scrimmage yards on seven touches in his return from a one-game absence due to a shoulder injury. Jacory Croskey-Merritt led Washington's running backs with 11 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown, while White and Austin Ekeler each drew one target out of the backfield. Ekeler's return to Washington could prove problematic for White, as the two veteran running backs could split passing-down work while Croskey-Merritt continues to get most of the carries. White could get more opportunities if the Commanders are forced to play catch-up against the 5-0 49ers in Week 6.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Officially cleared for Week 5

White (shoulder) does not carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Giants. A shoulder injury prevented White from playing against the Colts in Week 4, but the fifth-year running back has been cleared to return for Week 5 after logging three consecutive limited practices. Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) has also been cleared to play Sunday, so White and Austin Ekeler both figure to operate in rotational roles out of the backfield.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Good to go for Week 5

Head coach Dan Quinn said Friday that White (shoulder) will play Sunday against the Giants, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports. After missing last Sunday's game with the shoulder issue, White now appears set to return to Washington's backfield as the pass-catching complement to Jacory Croskey-Merritt. White's return will likely mute Austin Ekeler's role, though this could turn into a three-man backfield, leaving none of the trio as enticing fantasy options. White has produced 151 yards on 31 touches this season.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Remains limited in practice

White (shoulder) was limited at practice Thursday. White was sidelined all of last week before missing this past Sunday's game versus the Colts in London while dealing with a shoulder injury. He maintained his activity level from Wednesday, as did fellow RB Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin). With the Commanders waiving rookie Kaytron Allen on Thursday, the team currently has just Croskey-Merritt, White and Austin Ekeler at the position on the active roster.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: In line to practice this week

Coach Dan Quinn said Monday that White (shoulder) "should" practice this week, Tashan Reed of The Washington Post reports. White sat out the entirety of Week 4 prep before being ruled out for Sunday's game versus the Colts in London as he deals with a shoulder injury. The Commanders resume practicing Wednesday, after which his activity level, if any, will become known. In three contests this season, White has 31 touches for 151 yards from scrimmage and one receiving TD.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Ruled out for Week 4

White (shoulder) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts. White missed practice all week and won't suit up in London. Rookie Kaytron Allen and newly-signed Austin Ekeler will spell Jacory Croskey-Merritt out of the Washington backfield against Indianapolis.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Makes return to Sunday's contest

White (shoulder) has returned to Sunday's game against the Seahawks in the third quarter, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports. White earned three touches and recorded a receiving touchdown in the first half before getting banged up shortly before the end of the second quarter. After receiving treatment during halftime, White looks like he'll be able to fill a change-of-pace role out of the Washington backfield for the rest of the contest.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Sleeper RBs

After a disappointing Week 1 with just 4.7 PPR points at Philadelphia, White was exceptional in Week 2 at Dallas with 14.3 PPR points. He had seven carries for 43 yards and six catches for 40 yards on six targets. White will continue to share work with Jacory Croskey-Merritt, but White has flex appeal in all leagues against Seattle. It won't be an easy matchup, and we'll see what the Commanders look like with Marcus Mariota starting for the injured Jayden Daniels (elbow). But I expect White to be heavily involved in the passing game, which makes him a flex option in Week 3.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Highly efficient in Week 2 loss

White rushed seven times for 43 yards and brought in all six targets for 40 yards in the Commanders' 37-20 loss to the Cowboys on Sunday. The Commanders fell into catch-up mode throughout the second half, a situation tailor-made for White's pass-catching acumen. The veteran offseason addition saw a hefty workload as a result, recording four more catches on four additional targets than he'd seen in Week 1. White is likely to continue in a complementary role behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt for the time being, but the former figures to continue seeing plenty of run anytime the Commanders are trailing.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Clear of injury report

White (hamstring) wasn't listed on the Commanders' initial Week 1 injury report Wednesday. White had been tending to a hamstring issue since mid-August, but his ability to avoid the practice report entirely Wednesday indicates he's put the injury behind him. Meanwhile, Jacory Croskey-Merritt (groin) was limited to kick off Week 1 prep, leaving one big question mark in Washington's backfield ahead of Sunday's game in Philadelphia.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Back in individual drills Monday

Coach Dan Quinn said White (hamstring) will participate in individual drills at Monday's practice, Ben Standig of Big 100 Washington D.C. reports. White has been sidelined since last Wednesday due to a hamstring injury and didn't suit up for Saturday's preseason game at Detroit. Now that he's back in the mix at practice, he can continue staking a claim to a Commanders backfield that currently is without top incumbent Jacory Croskey-Merritt (lower body).

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Working off to side at practice Thursday

White (hamstring) was in uniform for Thursday's practice and was seen working out off to the side catching passes from a JUGS machine, Nicki Jhabvala of The Athletic reports. Though White has been ruled out for the Commanders' second preseason game Saturday versus the Lions, he appears to be progressing in his recovery from the hamstring injury, which kept him off the field entirely a day earlier. So long as White is able to return to team drills before the end of the preseason or during Week 1 prep, he should be ready to handle a change-of-pace role out of the Washington backfield in the Sept. 13 season opener in Philadelphia.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Won't play in Saturday's preseason game

White (hamstring) won't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Lions, John Keim of ESPN.com reports. While White, who was hurt during the Commanders' recent joint practice versus Miami, won't suit up this weekend, he was spotted on the field during the early portion of Thursday's session, which will be a lighter practice, per Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. White's next chance to see game action will arrive Friday, Aug. 28 in the team's exhibition finale against the Ravens.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Nursing hamstring injury

White has missed the last few days of practice with a hamstring injury, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports. White's issue was previously unknown, but Garafolo adds the hamstring injury isn't considered serious or a long-term problem. The veteran running back is expected to fill the pass-down role in Washington's backfield alongside Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who is the favorite to handle early-down carries.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Penciled in as No. 2 RB at camp

White was listed as the Commanders' No. 2 running back on the team's unofficial depth chart Monday, Zach Selby of the team's official site reports. White joined Washington in the offseason, inking a one-year deal with the team in March. Head coach Dan Quinn named White as a standout performer from OTAs and minicamp, but at this point, second-year pro Jacory Croskey-Merritt appears to have the edge as the No. 1 option in the backfield heading into the 2026 campaign. White was able to turn 132 carries into 572 yards and four touchdowns while also adding 40 catches and 218 yards over 17 regular-season contests with the Buccaneers in 2025, marking the third time in his four-year career that he was active for the entire regular season.

  • Commanders' Rachaad White: Named as offseason standout

Commanders coach Dan Quinn named White as one of the standout performers from OTAs and minicamp, but Quinn also cautioned that he expects multiple RBs to contribute and isn't sure if there will be a designated starter, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports. The Commanders also have Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Kaytron Allen, Jerome Ford and Jeremy McNichols competing for playing time, with Croskey-Merritt presumably being the other favorite to start. White easily has the most NFL experience of the group as both a rusher and pass catcher, but his efficiency on the ground was often a negative in Tampa Bay -- which is why he settled for a one-year, $2 million contract after piling up 4,106 yards from scrimmage and 25 TDs in four seasons. He's making a good impression with his new team and seems locked in for a Week 1 role, though it remains to be seen if White will get considerable rushing volume or be deployed more like a passing-down specialist.

  • Buccaneers' Rachaad White: Records 41 total yards in win

White rushed seven times for 23 yards and brought in both targets for 18 yards in the Buccaneers' 16-14 win over the Panthers on Saturday. White was a distant runner-up to Bucky Irving in carries for the Buccaneers on the afternoon, with the latter logging a career-high 26 rush attempts. Like Irving, White averaged just 3.3 yards per carry, and he complemented that with equally modest receiving yardage. White put together just a serviceable regular season despite the fact he had the potential for expanded opportunity with Irving missing seven games with shoulder and foot injuries, with the former finishing with 572 rushing yards and four touchdowns at 4.3 yards per carry while adding a 40-218-0 line on 45 targets across 17 games. White would remain in a complementary role should the Buccaneers play next weekend in the wild-card round by virtue of the Saints tying or defeating the Falcons on Sunday.

  • Buccaneers' Rachaad White: Limited production in Week 17

White turned two carries into 10 yards and caught both of his targets for seven yards in Sunday's 20-17 loss to the Dolphins. White was an afterthought on offense in Week 17, churning out his fewest rushing yards in a game this season, while the two carries were tied for his second lowest total on the year. The running back was able to reel in at least one pass for the 16th consecutive contest this season. With Bucky Irving back operating as the team's primary option in the backfield, White has turned into an unappealing fantasy option.
