Steel wasn't qualified by the Wild on Friday, so he'll become an unrestricted free agent Saturday, Jessi Pierce of NHL.com reports.
Steel had 10 goals and 18 assists in 65 games with the Wild this past season. The 2016 first-round pick should find a new NHL home on the open market.
