Tye Kartye LW | SEA
Kraken's Tye Kartye: Back in action
Kartye (illness) will play Friday versus the Mammoth, per the NHL media site.
Kartye missed Wednesday's contest against the Kings, but he looks to be healthy enough to return to action. He'll slot in on the fourth line, while Jared McCann (lower body) comes out of the lineup. Kartye has just one assist and five shots on net over his last seven contests.

Philipp Grubauer G | SEA
Kraken's Philipp Grubauer: Getting start versus Mammoth
Grubauer will guard the road goal Friday versus the Mammoth, per Circling Seattle Sports.
Grubauer will make his second start in the last three games. While he took a loss versus the Wild on Monday, he stopped 25 of 27 shots. Grubauer is carving out a larger role amid Joey Daccord's recent struggles, and it's possible the two goalies share the crease for a while going forward.

Liam Ohgren LW | VAN
Canucks' Liam Ohgren: Getting change of scenery
Ohgren was traded to the Canucks from the Wild on Friday, along with Marco Rossi (lower body), Zeev Buium and a 2026 first-round pick, in exchange for Quinn Hughes, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Ohgren will give the Canucks another young prospect to work with as they attempt a significant retooling following their latest failure to get competitive. This is a change of scenery for Ohgren, who had just seven points in 46 career games over the last three NHL campaigns. The 21-year-old winger may still end up seeing some time with AHL Abbotsford to work on his development. Ohgren failed to log a point in 18 NHL outings this season, and if he sticks in the NHL with the Canucks, he's unlikely to be anything more than a bottom-six option initially.

Zeev Buium D | VAN
Canucks' Zeev Buium: Top prospect on move in trade
Buium was traded to the Canucks from the Wild on Friday, along with Marco Rossi (lower body), Liam Ohgren and a 2026 first-round pick, in exchange for Quinn Hughes, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Buium is essentially a replacement for Hughes on the Canucks' current roster. He also moves back the Canucks' competitive window, which has rapidly closed amid recent mismanagement. The 20-year-old Buium may struggle initially after the trade, but he has the potential to be a superstar in his own right on the blue line, and he'll get far more opportunities in Vancouver than he was receiving in Minnesota. The blueliner, a first-round pick in 2024, had 14 points and a minus-9 rating over 31 appearances prior to the trade.

Marco Rossi C | MIN
Canucks' Marco Rossi: Heading to Vancouver
Rossi (lower body) was traded Friday to the Canucks from the Wild, along with Zeev Buium, Liam Ohgren and a 2026 first-round pick in exchange for Quinn Hughes, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Rossi is reportedly nearing a return from his injury and was potentially ready to play Sunday. Instead, he'll be linking up with a new team, and it's unclear if Rossi will be ready to go for Sunday's contest versus the Devils. Rossi will need to be activated from injured reserve prior to making his Canucks debut. The center has 13 points over 17 appearances this season and put up 60 points in 82 regular-season outings a year ago, but his short-term scoring potential will take a hit with his move to last-place Vancouver.

Quinn Hughes D | MIN
Wild's Quinn Hughes: Dealt to Minnesota
Hughes was traded to the Wild from the Canucks on Friday in exchange for Marco Rossi (lower body), Zeev Buium, Liam Ohgren and a 2026 first-round pick, Darren Dreger of TSN reports. Per Michael Russo of The Athletic, Hughes' Minnesota debut will be Sunday versus the Bruins.
Hughes' divorce from the Canucks went much quicker than last year's J.T. Miller saga. The Wild will accelerate their competitive timeline by acquiring Hughes, who immediately slots in as their top defenseman, bumping Brock Faber down to the second power-play unit. Hughes has 23 points (12 on the power play) and a minus-10 rating over 26 appearances this season, but his offense should take off with a more competent supporting cast, which includes a true superstar winger in Kirill Kaprizov.

Spencer Knight G | CHI
Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: In goal Friday
Knight will protect the road goal versus the Blues on Friday, Matthew DeFranks of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Knight posted a shutout in a 3-0 win over the Rangers on Wednesday to pick up his third win in his last five outings. The 24-year-old continues to operate as the Blackhawks' No. 1 in goal. This is a favorable matchup for him Friday, as the Blues are coming off a 7-2 loss to the Predators on Thursday.

Joel Hofer G | STL
Blues' Joel Hofer: Tending twine versus Blackhawks
Hofer will guard the home goal versus the Blackhawks on Friday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Hofer will get the starting nod after making a relief appearance versus the Predators on Thursday. The 25-year-old has been gaining momentum in the crease amid Jordan Binnington's recent struggles. A strong showing from Hofer on Friday could help him carve out more playing time.

Lukas Dostal G | ANA
Ducks' Lukas Dostal: Activated Friday
Dostal (upper body) was activated off injured reserve Friday.
Dostal hasn't been between the pipes since Nov. 22 due to the injury. He's 11-5-1 with a 2.81 GAA and a .904 save percentage in 17 outings this year. Vyacheslav Buteyets was returned to ECHL Tulsa in a corresponding move. Dostal should now serve as the No. 1 goaltender. Ville Husso will shift to the No. 2 job, but once Petr Mrazek (lower body) is ready to return, he might take that spot from Husso.

Vyacheslav Buteyets G | ANA
Ducks' Vyacheslav Buteyets: Sent down Friday
Buteyets was assigned to ECHL Tulsa on Friday.
Buteyets was called up by Anaheim at the beginning of December, but he made just one appearance during his time with the NHL club. He'll head back to the minors after Lukas Dostal (upper body) was activated off injured reserve, and Buteyets should see more consistent playing time with Tulsa.
