  • Mammoth's Dmitri Simashev: Adjusting quickly to AHL

Simashev posted three assists and a plus-4 rating in AHL Tucson's 8-7 overtime loss to Bakersfield on Saturday.

Simashev took a couple of games to get acclimated with the Roadrunners, but he's earned five points over his last three outings. The 20-year-old defenseman's stay in the minors will probably be temporary, but the Mammoth are opting for a more veteran core of blueliners for the time being. Simashev had one helper and a minus-9 rating in his first 24 NHL appearances prior to his demotion, but playing in the AHL looks to be getting his confidence up again.

  • Isaac Howard LW | EDM

Oilers' Isaac Howard: Goal, two assists in AHL win

Howard scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Bakersfield's 8-7 overtime win over Tucson on Saturday.

Howard opened his AHL tenure with three straight multi-point efforts before cooling off. He broke out of the quiet stretch Saturday and now has six goals and seven assists through 11 outings. Howard will get all the time he needs to round out his game in the AHL before rejoining the Oilers.

  • Quinn Hutson RW | EDM

Oilers' Quinn Hutson: Three points in AHL barnburner

Hutson scored twice and added an assist in AHL Bakersfield's 8-7 overtime win over Tucson on Saturday.

Hutson has piled up eight goals and four assists over his last seven appearances. The 23-year-old winger is on an excellent scoring pace as an AHL rookie, earning 16 goals and 28 points through 24 contests so far. He's also shooting 23.2 percent, a number that's likely to come down as the year progresses, but the results are there for him despite playing on a team in the middle of the pack.

  • Islanders' Matthew Schaefer: Climbing all-time rookie list

Schaefer scored a power-play goal in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over Tampa Bay.

The Isles were on a 4-on-3 power play, and Schaefer took a return pass from Anthony Duclair in the slot and buried a wrist shot five-hole on Ilya Sorokin. Schaefer tied Rasmus Dahlin (nine in 2018-19 with Buffalo) and Zach Bogosian (nine in 2008-09 with Atlanta) for the NHL's third-highest single-season goal total by a defenseman age 18 or younger.

  • Islanders' Calum Ritchie: Starting to flash draft pedigree

Ritchie scored a goal Saturday in a 3-2 shootout win over the Lightning.

Ritchie put the Isles up 2-0 in the first period off the rush. Anthony Duclair dropped the puck to Ritchie inside the left circle, and his wrist shot got past Jonas Johansson's blocker. Ritchie has two goals on seven shots and two assists in his last seven games. Overall, the first-round pick from 2023 has four goals, three assists and 28 shots through 23 appearances this season.

  • Sam Reinhart C | FLA

Panthers' Sam Reinhart: Pockets pair of assists

Reinhart logged two assists, three shots on goal and two hits in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Stars.

Reinhart has two goals and five assists through seven contests in December. He hasn't had to lead the way on offense as the Panthers have been getting contributions from many of their key forwards. He's now at 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) with 78 shots on net, 29 hits, 22 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating over 31 appearances.

  • Sam Bennett C | FLA

Panthers' Sam Bennett: Reaches 10-goal mark

Bennett scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Stars.

Bennett has been dynamic in December with four goals and five assists over seven contests. The 29-year-old gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead with his second-period tally. He's up to 10 goals, 21 points, 70 shots on net, 61 hits, 24 PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 31 outings. Bennett is on pace to reach the 20-goal mark for the fourth time in five full years with the Panthers.

  • Panthers' Anton Lundell: Goal, assist in win

Lundell scored a goal on three shots, dished an assist, added two hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Stars.

Lundell earned his first multi-point effort since Nov. 22 versus the Oilers. The 24-year-old center's opening goal 19 seconds into the second period was the game-winner, and he set up Brad Marchand for the empty-netter. Lundell now has nine goals, 25 points, 70 shots on net, 35 hits, 24 blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 31 appearances. Lundell has a decent chance of topping the 20-goal and 50-point marks for the first time in his career.

  • Islanders' Anthony Duclair: Three helpers in last three games

Duclair delivered two assists, including one on the power play, in Saturday's 3-2 shootout win over Tampa Bay.

Duclair has three assists in his last three games, but he has struggled with just one goal and five assists in his past 19 outings. His power-play assist in Saturday's contest was his first point with the man advantage since Oct. 11. Duclair has four tallies, 12 points, 43 shots on net and 22 blocked shots through 33 appearances this campaign.

  • Brad Marchand LW | FLA

Panthers' Brad Marchand: Leads way with three points

Marchand scored two goals -- one on the power play and the other into an empty net -- and added one assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Stars.

Marchand had the Panthers' last two goals of the game, including a back-breaker late in the second period. He had gone three contests without a point after racking up four points versus the Blue Jackets last Saturday. Marchand was consistent in November but has turned explosive on offense at times in December. He's up to 18 goals, 16 helpers, 86 shots on net, 18 hits, 22 PIM and a minus-6 rating through 30 outings this season.
