At the end of 2013 David Duval announced that 2014 would be the last year he accepted sponsor exemptions then reneged on that at the end of 2014 pointing at an injury that kept him from being as competitive as he would liked.Â
Nevertheless on Tuesday it was announced that Duval would be doing much more broadcasting for Golf Channel than he would be playing golf on it.
According to a release the former world No. 1 will "serve as a studio analyst and on site at selected PGA Tour events, at major championships and other marquee events."
Last season he only made three cuts and had a high finish of T25 at the Zurich Classic.
He has often worked tournaments for ESPN for the last few years and has done a pretty good job, especially for someone known as being introverted and reserved.Â
"It's a way to be involved in the game I love so much and to learn another facet of it," said Duval. "I think I can be a voice of the players, too, because it's a current voice. Let's see what happens and where it goes."
Duval is smart, funny and picks his spots. I'm excited about the move.
