Mets veteran third baseman David Wright has confirmed to ESPN that he has "weak" and "stretched-out" ligaments in his non-throwing shoulder. He has been out since since Sept. 8 with rotator cuff inflammation.
Wright is on a six-week strengthening program he hopes will allow him to avoid surgery. But going under the knife, which would require nearly four months of recoery time, remains a possibility if pain persists. He plans on testing his shoulder by hitting around Nov. 1.
