The Royals optioned infielder Johnny Giavotella to Triple-A Omaha Saturday.
Giavotella was brought up after second baseman Omar Infante was hit in the face by a pitch, but with Infante playing Friday after a few days off, Giavotella will be sent back down. He went 1 for 3 and recorded one RBI on a sacrifice fly in his only appearance with the Royals.
