Dodgers second baseman Mark Ellis was discharged from a Los Angeles hospital on Thursday, five days after undergoing an emergency surgery on his left leg, MLB.com reports.
The team says Ellis is out at least six weeks with a left knee injury. There was a report earlier this week that if he hadn't had the fasciotomy when he did, he could have lost his leg.
Ellis was injured on May 18 when he tried to avoid a takeout slide by St. Louis' Tyler Greene. He left the game and then had the surgery on Saturday.
Ellis, 34, is hitting .273/.373/.364 with 27 runs scored in 37 games for the Dodgers this season. Rookies Elian Herrera and Ivan De Jesus have filled in for Ellis since the injury.
