Giants general manager Brian Sabean said Saturday that pitcher Matt Cain is not improving and is likely to undergo further testing on his injured elbow, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
Sabean did not indicate whether he expects Cain to pitch again this season, saying that it's up to the doctors. The Giants made a move to bolster the rotation in the absence of Cain, adding Jake Peavy from the Red Sox. Cain, who hasn't pitched since July 9, will see his streak of eight straight 30-start seasons end this year.
