The latest update on the National League All-Star vote is a bit more palatable than the AL vote, but there's one curious choice that sticks out like a sore thumb.

Here's the latest update:

OK, so we could nitpick a few spots, but mostly this is a very good starting lineup. Seven of the candidates are very worthy starters. And then there's Nori Aoki instead of Giancarlo Stanton, Andrew McCutchen, Justin Upton and Joc Pederson, among others, for the third and final outfield spot.

Where could this be coming from? Giants fans, maybe, though they haven't been enough to get Brandon Crawford above Jhonny Peralta and they're barely keeping Buster Posey above Yadier Molina. Considering that Aoki played for the Royals last season, I think we can safely connect the dots, right?

It needs to be noted that Aoki is having an excellent season for the Giants. Heading into Tuesday, he's hitting .324 with a .391 on-base percentage. He's playing for a good team. This isn't an egregious choice necessarily, it's just that he's ahead of a few superstars and it's surprising. Don't confuse this for Omar Infante in the AL by any stretch.

Though the game isn't in Kansas City this time around, there's definitely a barbecue flavor.

Voting is still ongoing at MLB.com and will continue to be through July 2.
