The White Sox have placed closer Matt Lindstrom on the 15-day disabled list due to an ankle injury, the club announced Tuesday afternoon. As a corresponding move, they purchased the contract of reliever Javy Guerra from Triple-A Charlotte.
Lindstrom, 34, has six saves in nine chances with a 3.32 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 11 strikeouts in 19 innings this season. He hasn't blown a save since April 16, closing down five straight chances.
Without Lindstrom, there's no telling who the White Sox will go with as closer. Scott Downs, Ronald Belisario and Daniel Webb are among the many candidates.
The White Sox now have six players on the DL.
