Brewers starting pitcher Wily Peralta got an early lead in his first start of the season Saturday against the Red Sox, but his struggles combined with the bullpen's as he settled for a no-decision in an extra-innings win.
Peralta was staked to a 6-2 lead heading into the bottom half of the third inning, but gave nearly all of it back in his next frame. Mike Napoli took Peralta deep for a three-run home run in the third, to cut the Brewers' lead to just one.
Peralta actually left the game with the lead intact, but the bullpen gave it up in the next frame, and he settled for a no-decision. Peralta was tagged for five runs on five hits and two walks, so it wasn't like he took a tough-luck loss. He struck out six in his five innings of work, while throwing 60 of 97 pitches for strikes.
Peralta only made a few mistakes in his first start, so he will try to shore things up the next time out. He is scheduled to make his next start Friday against the Pirates.
