Athletics' Joey Meneses: Sent to minor-league camp
Meneses was reassigned to minor-league camp by the Athletics on Sunday.
Meneses joined the A's as a non-roster invitee at major-league spring training, going 2-for-5 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored over five at-bats in three contests. The 33-year-old produced a .264 average with 11 home runs, 55 RBI, 37 runs scored and two stolen bases over 387 at-bats in 110 games with Triple-A Syracuse last season, and he'll look to earn a shot with a the Athletics' major-league club in 2026.

Athletics' Joey Meneses: Inks minors deal with A's
Meneses signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics on Saturday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Meneses spent the entire 2025 campaign with the Mets' Triple-A affiliate, slashing .264/.321/.444 with 11 homers, 55 RBI and 37 runs scored across 421 plate appearances. Signing with the Athletics figures to give the 33-year-old a higher chance of returning to the majors compared to New York, though he is still likely to spend most of his time at Triple-A Las Vegas.

Mets' Joey Meneses: Dispatched to minor-league camp
The Mets reassigned Meneses to minor-league camp Monday.
Meneses has produced at a near-league-average level at the plate over parts of three seasons in the majors with the Nationals, slashing .274/.322/.408 with a 101 wRC+ across 1,210 plate appearances. The 32-year-old's power production dropped considerably in 2024, however, with Meneses slugging just three home runs in 313 plate appearances before the Nationals demoted him to Triple-A last July and kept him in the minors for the remainder of the season. He caught on with the Mets on a minor-league deal in the offseason, but Meneses' declining production and lack of defensive flexibility made it unlikely that he would win a bench role on the Opening Day roster. Meneses will likely open the season at Triple-A Syracuse, and it may take a Pete Alonso injury in order for him to get a look with the big club.

Mets' Joey Meneses: Inks deal with Mets
The Mets signed Meneses on Thursday to a minor-league deal with an invite to MLB spring training, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
Meneses elected free agency Nov. 4 after the Nationals removed him from their 40-man roster. The 32-year-old was in the middle of his third season in the big leagues before being optioned to Triple-A Rochester on July 4 as he was putting up his worst season yet. He had an OPS of .593 during 2024 with the Nationals, but was able to put up a .793 OPS in the minors after his demotion. The right-handed bat now has a chance to earn a spot on the roster of a National League East opponent.

Joey Meneses: Hits free-agent market
Meneses elected free agency Monday, Bobby Blanco of MASNSports.com reports.
The Nationals booted Meneses from their 40-man roster, and he has opted to test out free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. Meneses was a solid regular for the Nationals from 2022-23 but bottomed out with a .593 OPS in 2024 and spent much of the season in the minors.
