  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Sitting again versus right-hander

Perkins is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Phillies. It marks the third time over the Brewers' last four games versus right-handed pitching that Perkins has been absent from the lineup. Milwaukee is going with Garrett Mitchell in center field.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Swipes two bags in win

Perkins went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two stolen bases in Monday's 6-2 win over the Phillies. Perkins was especially pesky in the seventh inning, swiping two bags and scoring to extend the Brewers' lead to 6-2. He has gone just 5-for-43 in 12 September contests but has still managed four thefts. On the season, the 28-year-old is hitting .247 with six home runs, 41 RBI, 50 runs scored and 22 steals across 404 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Back from injured list

The Brewers activated Perkins (calf) from the 10-day injured list Thursday. Perkins required a minimum-length absence for a right calf strain and didn't go out on a rehab assignment prior to being activated. The 27-year-old outfielder should be deployed mostly against left-handed pitching by the Brewers down the stretch.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Targeting Thursday return

Perkins (calf) will take batting practice Tuesday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Assuming Perkins is able to avoid any setbacks, the plan is for him to return to the Brewers ahead of Thursday's series finale against the Cardinals. With Christian Yelich (back) set to miss the rest of the season, the 27-year-old Perkins will have more opportunities to start in Milwaukee's outfield, likely filling in for Sal Frelick or Garrett Mitchell against left-handed starters.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Goes on 10-day IL

The Brewers placed Perkins on the 10-day injured list Monday with a right calf strain. The outfielder will be sidelined for at least a week and a half with the injury, which he likely sustained in Sunday's loss to the Reds. In the meantime, infielder Tyler Black was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to replace Perkins on the major-league roster.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Three hits, two steals in win

Perkins went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 8-5 win over Atlanta. Perkins had a pair of go-ahead hits, delivering an RBI single in the fifth inning and a two-run single in the sixth. He was one of four Brewers to log multiple hits in the contest. He's had inconsistent playing time, but the switch hitter typically is in the lineup versus southpaws, as Perkins continues to platoon with Garrett Mitchell in center field. Perkins is at a .260/.333/.367 slash line with 16 steals, six home runs, 34 RBI and 40 runs scored over 315 plate appearances.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Getting fifth straight start

Perkins will start in center field and bat ninth in Thursday's game against the Pirates. Though he'll stick in the lineup for a fifth straight start after going 4-for-15 with a home run, three walks and a stolen base across the prior four contests, Perkins still looks to be the Brewers' fourth outfielder. Each of Perkins' prior four starts came against left-handers, and he'll remain in the lineup Thursday against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes while Jackson Chourio exits the starting nine in what appears to be a routine off day. Some combination of Chourio, Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick and Christian Yelich still appears to be the Brewers' preferred starting outfield trio and designated hitter versus right-handed pitching.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Registers steal Wednesday

Perkins went 0-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base in Wednesday's 9-0 win over the Pirates. Perkins was hitless for just the second time over six games in July, but he was still able to make an impact on the bases. The outfielder is 6-for-19 (.316) with three walks this month. For the season, he has 14 steals on 16 attempts, six home runs, 28 RBI, 38 runs scored and a .249/.326/.365 slash line through 279 plate appearances. The switch hitter has benefited from a run of four straight opposing southpaws, starting each of those games to give Garrett Mitchell and Sal Frelick each two off days. Perkins doesn't have a spot in the lineup regularly against right-handers and hasn't started against one since June 28.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Back on bench after three starts

Perkins is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rangers. Perkins had started in center field in each of the last three games, but he'll retreat to the bench Wednesday and still looks to be viewed as the team's fourth outfielder. Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio will form the Milwaukee outfield from left to right Wednesday and look to be manager Pat Murphy's preferred trio against right-handed pitching.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Sitting again Wednesday

Perkins isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Wednesday's game against the Angels. Although the Angels will start Wednesday's game with southpaw Tyler Anderson on the mound, the Brewers will put the lefty-hitting Sal Frelick in center field rather than the switch-hitting Perkins, who is just 1-for-16 in his last five games.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Resting Tuesday

Perkins isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Angels. Perkins has gone just 1-for-16 with six strikeouts across his last five games, and he'll now get a day to regroup Tuesday. His absence will put Christian Yelich, Sal Frelick and Jackson Chourio in the outfield while William Contreras (head) serves as the designated hitter, allowing Gary Sanchez to start at catcher.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Sitting Monday

Perkins is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the Blue Jays. Perkins will begin Monday's game in the dugout after starting in each of the last six games. Over that span, the 27-year-old has gone 8-for-21 with two triples and two RBI. Sal Frelick will shift to center field while Jackson Chourio will start in right field against Toronto right-hander Jose Berrios.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Swipes two bags Friday

Perkins went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases in Friday's 7-2 win over the Red Sox. Getting the start in center field and batting ninth, Perkins swiped his first bags in May and reached base three times, extending a hot streak that has seen him go 7-for-15 over the last six games with three walks. The 27-year-old has gained more playing time of late, but manager Pat Murphy will likely continue riding the hot hand among his outfielders, giving Perkins little job security without a longer run of success at the plate.

Perkins isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Thursday's game against St. Louis. Perkins has cooled off considerably after a hot start, slashing just .136/.208/.273 with two RBI across his last six games. His absence Thursday will move Sal Frelick into center field while Jake Bauers picks up a start in right field, batting eighth.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Moving into regular role

Perkins will start in center field and bat ninth in Wednesday's game against the Padres. Despite going hitless with a pair of strikeouts in four at-bats in Tuesday's 6-3 loss, Perkins will remain in the lineup for a fifth straight game. Perkins owns an .895 OPS over 38 plate appearances on the season and looks poised to maintain a near-everyday role in the Milwaukee outfield while Christian Yelich (back) is on the injured list.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Late-game heroics not enough

Perkins went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and an additional run scored during Sunday's 6-4 loss to Baltimore. Perkins belted a go-ahead homer in the seventh inning off Yennier Cano. However, the Orioles immediately took back the lead in the bottom of the seventh. Still, Perkins racked up his second three-hit game of 2024 and has generated a hit in six of seven appearances. In 26 at-bats, Perkins owns a team-leading .385 batting average with a 1.082 OPS.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Homers, swipes bag

Perkins went 1-for-2 with a solo home run, two runs scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's win over Cincinnati. He also walked and was hit by a pitch in the contest. Perkins stole second after being hit by a pitch to open the fourth inning and then eventually came around to score Milwaukee's sixth run on a sacrifice fly from Jackson Chourio. The outfielder wasn't done yet, however, adding a solo shot off Hunter Greene in the sixth, giving him his first long ball of the season. Perkins has now hit safely in all four games he's played, racking up four RBI, five runs and two stolen bases over that stretch.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Productive from No. 9 spot

Perkins went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base in Tuesday's 9-5 win over Cincinnati. Perkins opened the scoring in the third inning with a two-run single before swiping his first bag of the year and scoring on a Christian Yelich hit. The 27-year-old switch-hitter would add a third RBI with another base hit in the sixth. It was just the third start of the season for Perkins -- he's now 5-for-13 on the year with three RBI and three runs scored after slashing .217/.325/.350 with four homers and five stolen bases through 67 games as a rookie last season. Perkins will likely remain the fourth outfielder in Milwaukee until Garrett Mitchell (hand) is ready to return from the IL.

  • Brewers' Blake Perkins: Makes Opening Day roster

Perkins has made the Brewers' Opening Day roster, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Perkins should see quite a bit of playing time in right field against lefties and could get some starts versus righties, too, if Garrett Mitchell (hand) isn't ready. The 27-year-old put up a .675 OPS over 168 plate appearances with the Brewers last season.
