  • Cubs' Jerry Vasto: Sent to minors

Vasto cleared waivers Tuesday and was assigned outright to Triple-A Iowa.

Vasto was claimed off waivers by the Cubs at the end of October, but apparently went unclaimed after being waived this time around. The 26-year-old will have to fight to reclaim a spot on the 40-man roster after posting a 3.08 ERA and 1.34 WHIP at the Triple-A level with the Rockies and Royals in 2018.

  • Cubs' Jerry Vasto: Claimed by Cubs

Vasto was claimed off waivers by the Cubs on Wednesday.

Vasto has appeared in just six major-league games in his career, with all of them coming this past season. Across 4.1 innings of relief between the Rockies and Royals, he allowed four earned runs off six hits and two walks while striking out four. He finished the season with a solid 3.08 ERA and 1.34 WHIP at the Triple-A level and will fight for a spot on the big-league roster in spring training with Chicago.

  • Royals' Jerry Vasto: In line for callup

Vasto is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Tuesday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.

Vasto was dealt from the Rockies to the Royals at the end of August, and after briefly reporting to the minor leagues, he'll get a chance with the big-league squad. He managed to appear in just one game out of the bullpen for Colorado in June, recording two outs and allowing three runs on three hits and a walk while striking out one. Vasto figures to serve in a bullpen role down the stretch of the regular season.

  • Royals' Jerry Vasto: Traded to Kansas City

Vasto was dealt to the Royals from Colorado in exchange for Drew Butera and cash considerations.

Vasto has only appeared in one major-league game this season, but he will add some extra organizational depth to Kansas City following this trade. Across 37 relief appearances with Triple-A Albuquerque in 2018, he's logged a 3.16 ERA and 1.35 WHIP with 44 strikeouts in 37 innings. He will report to Triple-A Omaha.

  • Rockies' Jerry Vasto: Optioned to minors

Vasto was sent back down to Triple-A Albuquerque on Wednesday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

With Bryan Shaw (calf) reinstated from the DL, Vasto will return to the Triple-A level. Vasto didn't make an appearance with the Rockies during this short stint in the big leagues, and it's unlikely that he will make an impact out of Colorado's bullpen this season.

  • Rockies' Jerry Vasto: To join Rockies on Saturday

Vasto will be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.

Vasto has only appeared in one game for Colorado in 2018 but will take the roster spot of Mike Dunn, who is about to go back on the disabled list with an undisclosed injury. Across 26 outings with Albuquerque this year, Vasto has logged a 2.36 ERA and 1.11 WHIP. He will serve out of low-leverage situations while with the team.

  • Rockies' Jerry Vasto: Optioned to Triple-A

Vasto was sent back down to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday, MLB.com's Thomas Harding reports.

In a corresponding move, the Rockies activated Adam Ottavino (oblique) from the 10-day DL. Vasto only appeared in one game for Colorado after being called up a few days ago, and allowed three earned runs off three hits and one walk while recording just two outs against Arizona on Sunday. He's done fairly well at the Triple-A level, so don't be surprised to see the 26-year-old back in the big-league bullpen in the near future.

  • Rockies' Jerry Vasto: Joins big-league bullpen

Vasto had his contract selected by the Rockies on Sunday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Vasto -- who's spent the past five seasons in the Rockies' minor-league ranks -- will make his way to the majors to join the bullpen following Scott Oberg's (back) placement on the disabled list Sunday. Vasto owns a 1.71 ERA and 26:8 K:BB over 21 innings of relief with Triple-A Albuquerque this season.
