Twins' Jovani Moran: Moves to 60-day IL
The Twins transferred Moran (forearm) to the 60-day injured list Sunday.
Moran suffered a left forearm strain at Triple-A St. Paul in August and will now officially miss the rest of the season. He'll lose his spot on the 40-man roster, allowing Chris Paddack (elbow) to return from his own stint on the 60-day IL.... See More ... See Less
Twins' Jovani Moran: Out with forearm injury
Moran was placed on the 7-day IL at Triple-A St. Paul with a left forearm strain. "It doesn't sound like he'll be back any time soon. We'll see what the next few weeks hold," Saints pitching coach Pete Larson told the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
Moran would have been a candidate to join the Twins when rosters expand in September, but it sounds like this injury could end his season.... See More ... See Less

Twins' Jovani Moran: Takes second loss
Moran (0-2) took the loss in Thursday's 8-4 defeat the hands of the Tigers. He allowed three runs on three hits with one strikeout over one inning.
The 26-year-old made his mess in the fifth inning, highlighted by Javier Baez's two-run triple that tied the game at 4-4. Moran had allowed just one run over his previous 11 appearances (10.2 innings), while Thursday's outing was the first time he'd given up more than one run since April 18. His ERA is now up to 4.50 with a 1.43 WHIP and 31:14 K:BB across 28 innings while working in middle relief for the Twins.... See More ... See Less
Twins' Jovani Moran: Blows save in extra innings
Moran (0-1) blew a save chance in the 10th inning and took the loss Tuesday against the Red Sox. He allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and one walk while striking out one over two-thirds of an inning.
Moran was called on to finish the game after Minnesota's top bullpen arms (Jorge Lopez, Griffin Jax, Jhoan Duran) had been used earlier in a tie game. Moran has struggled this season by allowing six earned runs in seven innings (7.71 ERA). Although he has nine strikeouts, he also has five walks. Moran struggled with walks in the minors before improving his control last season (11% walk rate), so his slow start is a concern.... See More ... See Less
Twins' Jovani Moran: Walks an issue this spring
Moran threw a scoreless inning with two walks in Tuesday's spring training win over Tampa Bay. He's thrown four scoreless innings with four walks this spring. Moran reached 98 mph on the radar gun while pitching for Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic, MLB.com reports.
Moran gave up one earned run with five strikeouts and two walks in 2.2 innings in the WBC. Moran improved in his second season in the majors to become an impact reliever in the Minnesota bullpen due to his strikeout rate (32.9% in 2022). A big part of his success last season was due to improving his control (allowing just a 11% walk rate from 18.4% in 2021). His six walks in 6.2 innings between the two teams this spring is thus a concern. However, he's set to begin the season as a second lefty setup man in the Minnesota bullpen.... See More ... See Less
Twins' Jovani Moran: Back in big leagues
The Twins recalled Moran from Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.
One day after being sent down to the minors to clear room on the 28-man active roster for starter Tyler Mahle's return to the rotation, Moran will be back with the Twins after Mahle was sent back to the IL upon suffering a recurrence of right shoulder inflammation in Saturday's 13-0 loss to the White Sox. Aaron Sanchez is likely the top candidate to replace Mahle in the rotation, while Moran presumably serves as a long man or middle-relief option for Minnesota. Moran thrived in his most recent appearance for the Twins on Wednesday, striking out five while allowing one run on three hits over three innings in a relief appearance against Boston.... Twins' Jovani Moran: Shakes off calf issue
Moran (calf) struck out four in a perfect two-inning appearance out of the bullpen in Friday's 6-2 loss to the White Sox.
Moran had been nursing a bruised right calf coming out of his most recent appearance Tuesday against the Brewers, but he avoided a trip to the injured list and was flawless in his return. Unless he's used out of the bullpen in Sunday's series finale with the White Sox, Moran will head into the All-Star break with a 1.00 ERA and 1.00 WHIP to go with 27 strikeouts across 18 innings with the big club this season.... Twins' Jovani Moran: Suffers bruised calf in appearance
Moran struck out a batter and worked around a hit over 1.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Brewers before he was lifted from the contest with a bruised right calf, Dave Campbell of the Associated Press reports.

Minnesota will add the right-hander to the bullpen as a replacement for Joe Smith, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with upper trapezius tightness. Twins' Jovani Moran: Joins active roster
Moran was recalled by the Twins on Monday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Moran made his MLB debut last season, struggling to a 7.88 ERA in eight innings of relief work while walking 18.4 percent of the batters he faced. His 16.7 percent walk rate through 7.1 Triple-A innings this year isn't much better, but it's led to a 3.68 ERA when paired with his 38.9 percent strikeout rate. He'll need to find the zone more often if he's to fill anything but a low-leverage role, however.... See More ... See Less
