Abreu went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two doubles in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Pirates.
Abreu's second-inning blast was ultimately all the Red Sox needed for the win. The outfielder has hit safely in five straight contests, going 7-for-18 with two homers and four doubles in that span. For the season, he's batting .259 with an .811 OPS, 22 homers, 65 RBI, 69 runs scored, 27 doubles, three triples and eight stolen bases over 120 contests. With about six weeks left in the season, Abreu has time to set career highs in most areas, as he's right in line with his counting stats from last year.

Abreu went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a stolen base during the Red Sox's 5-3 loss to the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
Abreu gave the Red Sox an early 2-1 lead by taking Dylan Cease deep to right-center field for a 370-foot solo homer. It was Abreu's sixth home run over his last 11 outings and 21st of the season, leaving him one long ball shy from matching his career-high mark that he set last year. He has a .794 OPS with eight steals, 64 RBI and 47 extra-base hits across 504 plate appearances this year.

Abreu started at designated hitter and went 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Athletics.
Abreu, who was held out of Saturday's lineup with lower-leg soreness, was back in action Sunday but did not play the field. His fifth-inning sacrifice fly gave Boston a 3-2 lead before the A's came back late. It was the sixth consecutive game with an RBI for Abreu, who was delivered 10 runs during that stretch. The two-time Gold Glove winning outfielder was replaced in the right field by Eli White the last two games.

Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Making return to lineup Sunday
Abreu (calf/shin) will start at designated hitter and bat third in Sunday's game against the Athletics, Chris Henrique of BostonSportsJournal.com reports.
Abreu was held out of the lineup Saturday for the first time since June 21, getting scratched shortly before the first pitch due to lower-leg swelling and soreness. He's made enough improvement to return to action for the series finale, but the two-time Gold Glove Award winner will be used strictly as a hitter Sunday. Eli White will draw the start in Abreu's usual spot in right field.

Interim manager Chad Tracy said that Abreu (calf) is doing better after receiving treatment Saturday and he is "hopeful" Abreu will play Sunday, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Abreu was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Athletics with some swelling in his shin/calf area, but it sounds like he has a chance to play in Sunday's series finale. Boston is in the middle of a 16-game stretch with no off days. The 27-year-old is in the midst of a five-game hitting streak and five straight games with at least one RBI as well.

Abreu was scratched from the lineup for Saturday's game against the Athletics due to swelling in his shin/calf.
Interim manager Chad Tracy said that the team had been trying to get the 27-year-old a day off during its 16-game stretch, per Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald, so Abreu will remain on the bench Saturday while he tends to his injury. In the meantime, Eli White will move over to right field, and Jarren Duran will enter the lineup to start in left.

Abreu kicked off the scoring in the contest with an RBI triple in the first inning. He added a 443-foot solo homer in the fifth and also logged a stolen base following a walk in the third. Abreu went deep only twice over 34 games from May 10 to June 19, but he's now homered twice in his past three contests. It's just the second day off of the season for Abreu, who started the past 56 games in right field. The 26-year-old has a .242/.279/.452 slash line with four doubles, three homers and 12 RBI through 16 contests in June. Nate Eaton is picking up a start in right field Sunday for Boston.
