Nurkic turned in an extremely efficient performance en route to a season-high 26 points. He also knocked down multiple triples for a second consecutive contest, and he has hit two triples in four of his 29 regular-season appearances. The big man didn't just impress in the scoring column. He dished out a team-high-tying eight assists, recording at least eight rebounds and eight assists for the third time on the campaign. Nurkic has scored in double figures in four straight appearances, during which he has averaged 18.8 points, 10.0 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 31.8 minutes per contest.

The veteran center faced a tough challenge opposite Jalen Duren, but Nurkic effectively neutralized him in the upset win. Although Nurkic has missed three games this month, he's come up big in some key moments. Still, consistency remains a big problem for the big man. Nurkic's return from a one-game absence allowed Lauri Markkanen's (groin) to take a night off for injury management, but the Jazz needed more interior contributions to keep things competitive with the Lakers. Nurkic was efficient with his shot, active on the glass and decisive as a passer, ending just three assists away from recording what would've been his first triple-double of the season. The 17 boards were a season-high mark for the veteran big man, and this was his sixth double-double of the season. Nurkic is firmly entrenched as the Jazz's starting center, and he figures to continue putting up solid numbers across the board as long as he sees regular playing time.
