  • Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Agrees to contract extension

Towns (knee) and the Timberwolves agreed to a four-year, $224 million supermax contract Thursday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Towns is coming off one of the best seasons of his career as he averaged 24.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists. The center managed to lead his team to the postseason for the second time in his career. The deal will keep Towns in Minnesota for the foreseeable future and it means that the three-time All-Star will continue to see a heavy workload for the Timberwolves' frontcourt.

  • Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Receives treatment for injuries

Towns underwent stem cell treatment and platelet-rich plasma injections in both knees, his left ankle, left wrist and right finger Friday, Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.com reports.

Shelburne relays that Towns played through a cyst on his left ankle, a subluxated left wrist, an aggravated joint on the middle finger of his shooting hand and pain in both knees during the Timberwolves' postseason run. The talented big man hopes the treatments he received Friday will help him avoid offseason surgery. As of now, Towns is expected to be available for the start of the 2022-23 campaign.

  • Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Double-double not enough

Towns produced 28 points (7-15 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 9-9 FT), 12 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and three steals in 35 minutes during Tuesday's 111-109 loss to the Grizzlies.

Towns has four double-doubles in five games during the current series against the Grizzlies, and while he produced a strong output on both ends of the court, his efforts were not enough to lift Minnesota to what would've been a 3-2 series lead. While Towns has been heavily criticized for his performance in Game 3 of the series, he's still averaging 22.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game while shooting 54.1 percent from the field and 52.6 percent from deep in the current series.

  • Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Struggles in Game 3 loss

Towns amassed eight points (3-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, one assist and five blocks over 33 minutes during Thursday's 104-95 loss to the Grizzlies.

The five rejections salvaged his line somewhat from a fantasy perspective, but it was still a disappointing effort from Towns, especially considering Minnesota squandered a 26-point lead Thursday. The Timberwolves will need him to return to form if they're going to overcome a 2-1 series deficit.

  • Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Another double-double

Towns amassed 15 points (4-7 FG, 7-8 FT), 11 rebounds, two blocks and one assist during Tuesday's 124-96 loss to Memphis.

Towns recorded his fifth straight double-double and 42nd of the season. The Kentucky product is averaging 23.8 points and 11.6 rebounds on 53.0 percent shooting from the field during that span.
