Podziemski finished with zero points (0-5 FG, 0-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, four assists and one steal over 25 minutes during Wednesday's 139-104 win over the Trail Blazers.
Podziemski was a candidate to start this season after the departure of Klay Thompson but came off the bench in Golden State's regular-season opener. However, the 21-year-old guard's 25 minutes played suggest he will still be heavily featured in the backcourt rotation. Podziemski also posted a team-high plus-34 point differential without scoring.

Warriors' Brandin Podziemski: Drops 16 off bench Friday
Podziemski scored 16 points (6-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) while adding four rebounds, three steals and two assists in 21 minutes off the bench during Friday's 132-74 preseason rout of the Lakers.
While De'Anthony Melton got the start at shooting guard for the Warriors, Podziemski saw just as many minutes and was more productive. The second-year player missed Tuesday's game due to a broken nose, but he wore a mask Friday and didn't seem to have any issues. Podziemski will be counted on this season to replace some of the offense lost when Klay Thompson left for Dallas, but it's still not clear if he'll get a chance to start in the backcourt alongside Stephen Curry.

Warriors' Brandin Podziemski: Expected to play with mask
Podziemski (nose) is still waiting for a mask and won't play in Tuesday's preseason game against the Lakers in Las Vegas, Kendra Andrews of ESPN.com reports.
While Podziemski will miss Tuesday's contest, he's expected to be fine and play through a broken nose once he acquires a fitted mask, per Anthony Slater of The Athletic. Podziemski suffered a broken nose during Sunday's 111-93 preseason win over the Pistons, Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The Warriors labeled Podziemski's injury as a contusion before further evaluation revealed a fracture. Podziemski will be fitted for a mask and won't play in Tuesday's preseason game against the Lakers, but he could be ready to go for the Warriors' exhibition finale versus the Lakers on Friday.

Given his familiarity with the organization and the upside he showed as a rookie, Podziemski is getting a shot to compete for the starting spot left by Klay Thompson's departure. However, veteran free-agent acquisition De'Anthony Melton got the first crack, with Podziemski and Buddy Hield operating off the bench. Melton's the best defender of the group, which likely gives him the upper hand, especially if Podziemski and Hield aren't lighting it up from deep.
