Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Perfect shooting in limited action
Gilgeous-Alexander produced 17 points (5-5 FG, 3-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, five assists and a block across 18 minutes in Wednesday's 128-126 preseason loss to the Bucks.
Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a flawless offensive performance in limited action, converting every field-goal and free-throw attempt while helping Oklahoma City establish a commanding first-half advantage. The Thunder rested their starters after halftime, and Milwaukee capitalized against Oklahoma City's reserves. His efficiency and playmaking were encouraging signs, although preseason shooting percentages carry limited predictive value given the restricted minutes and experimental rotations. If this game offered any sign ahead of the regular season, it's that Gilgeous-Alexander should be ready to roll after winning the MVP award in each of the last two seasons.

Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Set to play Wednesday
Gilgeous-Alexander (not injury related) is set to play in Wednesday's preseason game against the Bucks, Justin Martinez of The Oklahoman reports.
Gilgeous-Alexander isn't included on the list of Thunder players who'll be held out of Wednesday's contest. Chet Holmgren (quadriceps) and Isaiah Hartenstein (ankle) will remain on the inactive list, though the rest of Oklahoma City's projected starters for 2026-27 are expected to suit up.

Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Sitting out preseason opener
Gilgeous-Alexander will not play in Tuesday's preseason opener against the Pelicans, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports.
Gilgeous-Alexander will travel with the team to Tulsa but won't see game action. The absence appears to be part of Oklahoma City's plan to manage its primary rotation players throughout a five-game preseason slate, and there's no injury to report.

Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: More off-ball work coming?
Gilgeous-Alexander could play off the ball more this season, per Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo Sports.
Running mate Jalen Williams was limited to a career-low 33 regular-season appearances in 2025-26, but his presence on the floor could help Gilgeous-Alexander spend more time off the ball in 2026-27. Gilgeous-Alexander remains a cinch pick early in the first rounds of fantasy drafts regardless of his role, having averaged at least 30 points, four rebounds, five assists, one steal and nearly one block while shooting at least 51 percent from the field and 87 percent from the foul line in each of his past four seasons.

Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Sitting out for Canada
Gilgeous-Alexander will not participate in Canada's upcoming World Cup qualifiers, Clemente Almanza of USA Today reports.
There is no injury to report, and this is simply a case of Gilgeous-Alexander prioritizing rest ahead of the upcoming NBA season. With training camp about a month away, the superstar is expected to be a full go for the Thunder.

Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Role unlikely to change
Gilgeous-Alexander's outlook remains mostly the same despite Oklahoma City's busy offseason, according to Bryan Toporek of Forbes.
The Thunder's decision to trade Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins and Luguentz Dort was driven largely by financial considerations. The reigning MVP should continue to dominate the ball offensively, while the continued development of Cason Wallace, Jared McCain and Ajay Mitchell should help offset some of the club's lost depth.
