  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Upgraded to available

Richardson (ankle) is available for Friday's game against the 76ers. Richardson is bothered by a sore left ankle, but he's still healthy enough to play Friday. With Jalen Suggs (knee) sidelined, the expectation is that Richardson and Tyus Jones will share the minutes as the backup point guards behind Anthony Black.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Iffy for Friday

Richardson is questionable for Friday's game against the 76ers with left ankle soreness. Richardson wasn't on the injury report heading into the Magic's most recent game Wednesday against the Nets, but the sore ankle likely explains why he didn't see any minutes in the 104-103 win. He had received playing time in each of the Magic's prior 12 contests, averaging 8.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.2 three-pointers in 17.7 minutes.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Sees 27 minutes in win

Richardson closed with 12 points (5-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 0-1 FT), one rebound and four assists over 27 minutes during Sunday's 135-127 victory over the Pacers. This was a solid showing for Richardson, as he took advantage of some extra minutes with Jalen Suggs sidelined by an MCL contusion. If Suggs continues to miss time, which wouldn't be a surprise, Richardson could be a name to monitor in deeper formats.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Sees 20 minutes

Richardson ended Monday's 107-106 loss to the Raptors with seven points (2-7 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, four assists and one steal over 20 minutes. Richardson is slowly becoming more involved for the Magic in the absence of Franz Wagner (ankle). Over his last seven games, the rookie has played 19.3 minutes per contest with averages of 8.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.9 three-pointers. His fantasy appeal remains limited to deeper formats for the time being.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Leads bench in loss

Richardson contributed nine points (3-4 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two assists and one rebound in eight minutes during Saturday's 132-120 loss to New York. The rookie first-rounder did not see the floor in the first three quarters but played the last 7:35 with Jalen Suggs (hip) exiting to the locker room and not returning. Richardson impressed during his limited run and ended with a bench-high nine points for Orlando. The Michigan State product is not guaranteed to play meaningful minutes on a nightly basis, though he could see increased playing time if Suggs is forced to miss additional time.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Puts up eight points in loss

Richardson ended Wednesday's 114-112 loss to the Spurs with eight points (3-5 FG, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 16 minutes. Richardson seems to have moved up in the depth chart, playing at least 10 minutes in his last three games and averaging 11.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.3 threes in that span. Time will tell if this role boost will last, but Richardson is definitely worth monitoring in deeper leagues, especially if an injury were to occur to Orlando's backcourt.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Adds 18 points off bench

Richardson racked up 18 points (7-11 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 1-1 FT), five rebounds and two assists in 21 minutes during Sunday's 138-129 loss to the Celtics. Richardson saw a sizable increase in opportunities given a thin Magic backcourt. He was averaging 4.4 minutes in five November appearances entering Sunday but logged a season-high 21 minutes in the loss, scoring in double figures for the first time in his young NBA career. Richardson could eventually carve out a consistent role in Orlando's rotation, but for the time being, he'll presumably move out of the fold once Jalen Suggs (knee) is cleared to return.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Scores 13 points off the bench

Richardson provided 13 points (4-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 3-4 FT), two rebounds, one steal and one turnover in 20 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 120-104 preseason win over Miami. Through three preseason outings, Richardson has produced averages of 11.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 2.3 triples per game on 46.2 percent shooting. It's unlikely he'll have fantasy value out of the gates, as he'll likely be playing limited minutes behind Desmond Bane, but Richardson will be a name to watch if Orlando experiences an injury to one of their backcourt players this season.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Out again Friday

Richardson (rest) will not play in Friday's Summer League game against the Mavericks, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports. The No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, Richardson missed the past two games for Orlando for rest purposes, and now he'll miss the final game as well. In his most recent performance Sunday, he produced 19 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 8-9 FT), four assists, two rebounds and two blocks across 25 minutes. He has a real shot at rotation minutes as a rookie.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Scores 14 in SL debut

Richardson (ankle) closed with 14 points (5-8 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), one rebound, one assist and one steal across 22 minutes in Thursday's 84-81 Summer League loss to the Kings. Richardson delivered a solid Summer League debut Thursday, reaching double figures in scoring while committing just one turnover. He briefly exited the game due to an ankle injury, and while he was able to return and play through the issue, Orlando Summer League coach Ameer Bahhur noted after the matchup that Richardson may have aggravated a right ankle issue that had been bothering him leading up to Summer League play, per Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel. Richardson stated that he was feeling fine after the exhibition according to Beede. The 6-foot-1 guard solidified himself as a clear first-round talent during his lone season at Michigan State, where he averaged 12.1 points on 49.3 percent shooting, including 41.2 percent from three, across 36 games. With Jalen Suggs (knee) returning and Desmond Bane joining the roster via trade, the Magic can afford to bring Richardson along gradually, though the organization loves the potential of its No. 25 overall pick from the 2025 NBA Draft.

  • Magic's Jase Richardson: Goes No. 25 to Orlando

Richardson was selected by the Magic with the No. 25 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Richardson had an outstanding true freshman season, emerging as a clear first-round prospect after a late-year breakout. The son of NBA legend Jason Richardson, Jase averaged 16.1 points and 4.6 rebounds after being promoted to the starting lineup for Michigan State's final 15 contests. Richardson has a sweet shooting stroke and showcased three-level scoring ability. Though he's undersized at 6-foot-1, Richardson excels at finishing through contact. The concern comes in his ballhandling and playmaking. As a natural shooting guard, Richardson's size will likely force him to play the point at the NBA level. However, the Magic have a slew of oversized guards and wings, and are in dire need of shooting, making Orlando a strong fit. Expect Richardson to provide a scoring punch off the bench in 2025.
