Pistons' Ebuka Okorie: Impressing in Detroit
Coach J.B. Bickerstaff has been impressed by Okorie so far in camp and wants the guard to continue to gain experience against NBA-caliber talent in the preseason, Coty M. Davis of The Detroit News reports.
Okorie should get his fair share of opportunities during Monday night's preseason game against the Suns as the team continues to evaluate where the young guard will fit into the rotation. Bickerstaff has been particularly impressed by Okorie's maturity and poise, and his ability to take care of the basketball. The 19-year-old was selected by the Pistons with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and is in a position to earn regular minutes off the bench behind Cade Cunningham.

Pistons' Ebuka Okorie: Game-high 27 points in SL loss
Okorie posted 27 points (8-19 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four rebounds, three assists and one steal over 28 minutes during the Pistons' 101-87 Summer League loss to the Heat on Friday.
Okorie made most of his scoring impact just before and after halftime, scoring 21 of his game-high 27 points across the second and third quarters of Friday's game. The rookie first-rounder has been solid across his five outings in the Summer League and figures to compete with Daniss Jenkins, Kevin Huerter, Isaiah Joe and Gary Harris for backcourt minutes off the bench behind starters Cade Cunningham and Duncan Robinson.

Pistons' Ebuka Okorie: Scores 14 points in SL loss
Okorie finished with 14 points (5-18 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 3-3 FT), six rebounds, four assists, one steal and one block over 32 minutes in Monday's 86-75 Summer League loss to the Knicks.
After Okorie combined for nine steals in his first two Summer League appearances, he cooled off Monday. While the 2026 No. 17 overall pick has certainly demonstrated his ability on the defensive end, it has been a different story on offense, with Okorie shooting 28.5 percent from the field in his previous two Summer League games while going 0-for-7 from deep during that span.

Pistons' Ebuka Okorie: Logs seven steals in SL win
Okorie posted 14 points (5-17 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), six assists, three rebounds and seven steals over 31 minutes during the Pistons' 103-94 Summer League win over the Cavaliers on Sunday.
Okorie finished as the Pistons' fourth-leading scorer despite his inefficiencies from the field, but he more than made up for it on the defensive side of the floor, where he accounted for seven of the team's 13 steals. Okorie was selected by the Pistons with the No. 17 pick of the 2026 NBA Draft, and strong play on defense should earn him consistent minutes in his rookie season, with his main competition for playing time coming from Daniss Jenkins and Isaiah Joe.

Pistons' Ebuka Okorie: Drops 20 points in SL loss
Okorie tallied 20 points (8-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-1 FT), four assists, two steals and one rebound across 30 minutes in Thursday's 101-93 Summer League loss to the 76ers.
Okorie delivered an efficient performance and finished as Detroit's second-leading scorer, albeit in a losing effort. The rookie point guard was also one of two Pistons players to log multiple steals. The Stanford product could see rotational minutes right away in 2026-27, though he'll likely compete for playing time with Daniss Jenkins and Isaiah Joe.

Pistons' Ebuka Okorie: Bound for Detroit
The Thunder selected Okorie with the No. 17 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft and traded his rights to the Grizzlies, who then traded his rights to the Pistons, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.
Detroit moved up from No. 21 and packaged three second-round picks to acquire Okorie, who powered Stanford's offense during his lone collegiate campaign. The guard averaged 23.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals in 35.0 minutes per contest across 31 starts during the 2025-26 season. He earned All-ACC First Team honors and showcased his scoring prowess by reaching the 30-point mark eight times. The Pistons are set at point guard with superstar Cade Cunningham, but Okorie figures to provide a spark off the bench during his rookie campaign.
