If you're a Green Bay Packers fan still bitter about Brett Favre playing in Minnesota, this probably isn't going to help: Favre may have steered Greg Jennings toward the Vikings.

Jennings told 100.3 KFAN-FM in Minneapolis that he talked and texted with Favre several times before signing with Minnesota.

"We were literally -- as I got off the plane and [offensive coordinator Bill] Musgrave walked up to me -- I'm on the phone with Brett," Jennings said via sportsradiointerviews.com. "I spoke to Brett probably two or three times throughout this process -- a lot via text and then on the phone as well. But he shot me straight. I knew if there was one person that would shoot straight and tell me exactly what I wanted to hear and the things I possibly didn't want to hear, it would be Brett. And so, he did that for me."

Swapping texts with Favre can be risky business, but it seems to have paid off for Jennings in this case.

Favre's advice wasn't the only reason why Jennings ended up in Minnesota though, the veteran wide receiver said he felt more welcome in Minneapolis. "I'll say this, [general manager Rick] Spielman and coach Frazier and the Wilf family, they were more in-tuned to me playing in this color than Green Bay was," Jennings said.

Another color Jennings could have ended up in: nautical blue. Otherwise known as Patriots blue.

Jennings said New England was another team interested in his services. "New England did [have interest] and obviously the interest was there, but I had already committed to the visit with the Vikings and I was excited about the visit," Jennings said. "So it wasn't like I was second-guessing, like, 'Ah man, New England is on me now.'"

Financially, it looks like Jennings made the right decision. His contract with the Vikings will pay him a $18 million in guaranteed money and averages out to $9 million-a-year over five years. Jennings reportedly had an $8 million-a-year offer from the Packers and a $6 million-a-year offer from the Patriots.
