Free agent QB Matt Leinart (Texans) signed Tuesday with the Raiders, the team announced. Leinart will back up starter Carson Palmer, his former teammate at USC. Leinart won the Heisman Trophy in 2004, two years after Palmer won the award. He has 18 career starts and a 71.6 passer rating. He started one game last year for Houston against Jacksonville on Nov. 27 but suffered a broken left collar bone, ending his season. Arizona drafted Leinart in the first round in 2006 with the 10th overall pick.
