LOOK: Ryan Mallett clearly not happy about being replaced by Brian Hoyer
Ryan Mallett briefly exited Thursday night's game with an injury. When he wanted to return, the Texans wouldn't let him.
Ryan Mallett started for the Texans on Thursday night. It's not looking like he'll be finishing the game.
After completing 7 of 10 passes for 50 yards and an interception against the Colts, Mallett took a shot to the ribs and had to pull himself out of the game for a brief moment. Brian Hoyer -- who won the starting job over the summer but lost it during the first game of the season -- entered for Mallett.
And that brief moment on the sideline for Mallett turned into the remainder of the first half.
Mallett seemed eager to return to the field shortly after the injury, but coach Bill O'Brien stuck with Hoyer instead, as Hoyer led the team down the field for a field goal.

Hoyer completed 8 of 13 passes for 127 yards in the first half. He also threw a Hail Mary touchdown pass to close out the first half.
In other words, the first half could not have gone any worse for Ryan Mallett, who only lost his job due to a very brief injury. And it could not have gone any better for Brian Hoyer, who only got a chance because of that brief injury.
Hoyer appears to have some luck on his side.
