NFL free agency 2022: Quandre Diggs returns to Seahawks on lucrative multi-year contract
The two-time Pro Bowler has agreed to remain with Seattle for the foreseeable future

It's an offseason of upheaval for the Seattle Seahawks, but not everyone is on the way out. Having agreed to a blockbuster deal that will send Pro Bowl quarterback Russell WIlson to the Denver Broncos and following that move with an unceremonious divorce from perennial All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner, the Seahawks have decided to not let safety Quandre Diggs out of the building -- as legal tampering for 2022 NFL free agency gets underway ahead of the new league year.
To that point, the team has secured Diggs on a three-year deal worth $40 million, per CBS Sports NFL insider Josina Anderson, keeping him in Seattle through the 2024 season. It's a deal that will pay Diggs upwards of $28 million over the next two seasons.
Diggs joined the Seahawks in 2019 after having found his way to the NFL by way of the Detroit Lions, who used a sixth-round pick to acquire him in 2015. It wasn't until he took his talents to the Pacific Northwest that he truly found prime form, or rather when he was sent there, seeing as the Lions traded him away only to see him earn a Pro Bowl nod in both 2020 and 2021. That's all the Seahawks needed to see to know they'd like him to stick around to help anchor what can only be described as a rebuild in Seattle.
He'll be asked to keep the good times rolling in tandem with Jamal Adams -- the latter having landed a massive contract from the Seahawks in 2021 -- the two now leading a two-headed defensive charge for head coach Pete Carroll. Diggs has played in every regular season game for the Seahawks since joining the team two seasons ago, amassing 10 interceptions, 17 pass deflections and 158 combined tackles in that span.
One of the more sought-after defensive backs in this year's free agency is now off the market.
