  • Seahawks' Jamal Adams: Undergoes successful surgery

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday "everybody sounds pleased" in regards to Adams' recent knee surgery, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.

Carroll added that the safety, who has already been ruled out for the season, is going to be away from the team for the early part of his recovery from the torn quadriceps tendon in his left knee, which he sustained during the team's season-opening win over the Broncos. The procedure was Adams' fourth since he joined the Seahawks ahead of the 2020 campaign, and he'll only play 25 games through his first three seasons with the team. When Adams was placed on injured reserve last week, Seattle signed defensive back Teez Tabor off Atlanta's practice squad to fill the empty roster spot, but Josh Jones has taken over as the starting safety next to Quandre Diggs.

  • Seahawks' Jamal Adams: Moves to IR

Seattle placed Adams (knee) on injured reserve Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Adams will soon undergo surgery to address the torn quadriceps tendon in his left knee that he sustained in Monday's 17-16 win over the Broncos and will be sidelined for the rest of the season as a result. The upcoming procedure will be Adams' fourth since he joined the Seahawks ahead of the 2020 campaign, as he previously underwent a pair of shoulder surgeries along with another surgery last offseason to fuse two dislocated fingers. Seattle signed defensive back Teez Tabor off Atlanta's practice squad to replace Adams on the 53-man roster, but Josh Jones is likely to receive the first opportunity to take over Adams' spot in the starting lineup at safety alongside Quandre Diggs (knee).

  • Seahawks' Jamal Adams: Surgery will end season

Adams (knee) is slated for season-ending surgery on a torn quadriceps tendon that he sustained Monday against the Broncos, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

After applying pressure on Russell Wilson during the first half of Week 1 action, Adams limped to the sideline and then required a cart to go to the locker room. A left knee injury was the initial culprit, but he eventually was diagnosed with a quad tendon tear. Now that surgery will be ordered up, Adams is destined for injured reserve in the near future. While his 2022 campaign is over, he's also expected to undergo a procedure on the broken finger that he sustained in the early stages of training camp at some point.

  • Seahawks' Jamal Adams: Needs surgery, may be out for 2022

Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed that Adams will require surgery to address the significant left knee injury he sustained in Monday's 17-16 win over the Broncos, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports. "It just breaks your heart. We're going to miss him so much," Carroll said of Adams.

Carroll didn't offer up a timeline for Adams' return, but the 26-year-old safety looks like he could be done for the season based on the tenor in which the coach discussed the injury. According to Brady Henderson of ESPN.com, Adams' injury is to the quadriceps tendon, which attaches to the muscle to the top of his left kneecap. An official timeline for Adams could come once surgery is completed, but at least for the foreseeable future if not the rest of the season, the Seahawks are expected to turn to Josh Jones to serve as Adams' primary replacement in the starting lineup. Adams was coming off a 2021 campaign in which he totaled 87 tackles, five pass breakups and two interceptions over 12 games.

  • Seahawks' Jamal Adams: Sustains serious injury

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said after Monday's 17-16 win over the Broncos that Adams is dealing with a serious injury, which is believed to be related to the quadriceps tendon of his left knee, Tim Booth of the Associated Press reports.

The safety will likely be sidelined for an extended period, though he'll presumably be sent for further tests before the Seahawks offer up a timeline for his return. At the very least, Adams will almost certainly be unavailable in Week 2 against the 49ers. Josh Jones replaced Adams in Monday's game and will presumably be first in line to start at safety while Adams is out of action.

  • Seahawks' Jamal Adams: Suffers knee injury on MNF

Adams (knee) is doubtful to return to Monday's game against the Broncos, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Adams was carted to the locker room, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Early indications suggest that Adams may have suffered a serious injury, and an update on his status will surface after the team completes tests on his knee.

  • Seahawks' Jamal Adams: Will float around formation

Adams is expected to move around the defensive formation again in 2022, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.

Head coach Pete Carroll has signaled that the defense is expected to use more three-safety formations in 2022, and that could bode well for Adams, who thrives in the box. The Seahawks didn't replace Bobby Wagner, who left in free agency, and an unproven Cody Barton is the next man up. However, the team will likely push Adams to the box often, where his run-stuffing and pass rushing skills should be an asset. Through 24 games with the Seahawks, Adams has 170 tackles (115 solo) and 9.5 sacks.
