The NFL's oldest player is 43 and he just got a two-year extension
Adam Vinatieri might play forever.
It doesn't look like the NFL's oldest player will be retiring anytime soon. Adam Vinatieri and the Indianapolis Colts have agreed to terms on a two-year deal that will keep the kicker in Indy past his 45th birthday.
The 43-year-old Vinatieri has somehow gotten better with age, something that Colts general manager Ryan Grigson has noticed.
"We are thrilled to retain Adam as a member of the Colts family," Grigson said in a statement. "Adam continues to play at the highest level year in and year out and his hard work, consistency and professionalism are a credit to him being the longest-tenured active player in the NFL."
According to NFL.com, Vinatieri's two-year deal is worth $6 million overall and can shoot up another million if Vinatieri hits certain incentives. He might also qualify for an AARP bonus. Just kidding, those don't exist in the NFL.
Vinatieri has been able to stave off Father Time with ease. Over the past two years, the Colts' kicker has connected on 55 out of 58 field goals, which is the highest conversion percentage for any NFL kicker with at least 10 attempts since the beginning of 2014.
If Vinatieri plays out his contract, he'll end up being one of the oldest players in NFL history. Only five players since 1921 have played in a game after their 45th birthday.
Vinatieri also has an outside chance to become the NFL's all-time scoring leader.

The Colts kicker currently sits at No. 3 on the all-time list, just 291 points behind No. 1 Morten Andersen. Vinatieri would need to average 146 points over the next two seasons to break the record. Although it's not impossible, it won't be easy.
Vinatieri has never scored more than 141 points in a season, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. A total of 26 players in NFL history have hit the 146-point mark for one season.
Once his career is over, Vinatieri is likely headed for the Hall of Fame, which is fitting, because last month, he said the Hall needed more kickers.
